Utility Management Specialist - Calgary, Canada (Remote)

Position Summary
As Utility Management Specialist, you will focus on transmission and distribution grid reliability data & analytics products in North America. This is a nimble startup environment where we solve complex problems and co-create clear analytics solutions for a sustainable, decarbonized energy system of the future. Working with other members of our team, you will lead the development of grid analytics solutions for utility clients with a focus on the distribution system. During your time with us, you will also collaborate with our global teams to deliver energy transformation projects across the world.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop Grid Analytics Solutions: Lead the creation of data and analytics products aimed at enhancing transmission and distribution grid reliability for utility clients.
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with other team members in a dynamic startup environment to address complex problems and co-create clear analytics solutions.
- Deliver Energy Transformation Projects: Collaborate with global teams to deliver energy transformation projects that contribute to a sustainable, decarbonized energy system.
- Innovate in a Nimble Environment: Operate within a nimble startup atmosphere, adapting quickly to solve complex challenges and drive innovation.
- Contribute to Sustainability Goals: Play a key role in advancing sustainability by developing solutions that support a decarbonized energy future.
- The role will involve some travel depending on the nature of the work required, up to 25% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of consulting and/or utility working experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a strong desire for continuous learning.
- Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD and/or CYME.
- A verifiable deep knowledge of at least one electric utility processes area, for example asset management, planning and engineering, outage management, vegetation management or data analytics in the utilities industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in using data analytics tools and software.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with global teams and clients in a dynamic startup environment. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of grid modernization challenges.
- Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Track record of solving analytical problems, using a systematic and logical approach, with clear outcomes.
- Strong organizational and teamwork skills, with experience working in virtual teams.
- Self-starter, effectively manage multiple projects in parallel under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel across North America and from time to time internationally.
Preferred but Not Required Qualifications

Technical skills to support product development - advanced SQL, knowledge of Python, R, or Javascript.

Experience using visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau to build out and report on key performance metrics.

Experience developing and deploying AI/ML solutions in the cloud, preferably with one or more providers (GCP, Azure, AWS).

Experience with data engineering, architecture, modeling, and practical experience with DevOps and MLOps.

Interpersonal skills to communicate highly technical analytics products and insights to target audience.

MBA, Analytics, or comparable graduate degree.

Knowledge of digital asset product development and design thinking.
- Experience developing use cases around OT / IT convergence.
- Business case development.
- Exposure to key electrical utility operational and information systems and data - OMS, EMS, SCADA, EAM, ERP, etc.
- Knowledge or familiarity with French or another language.
