Position Summary

As an Electrical Engineer at Tetra Tech, you will play a vital role in assisting our team of experts in delivering innovative utility management solutions. This position is ideal for candidates with an electrical engineering background who are eager to learn and grow in the field of utility management consulting. You will contribute to the design, analysis, and implementation of utility infrastructure projects and gain valuable experience in the industry. Your previous utility experience and/or Distribution and Transmission (D&T) experience will be a valuable asset

Position Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior team member and consultants to support the design and optimization of utility infrastructure.
  • Apply D&T studies experience in combination with Python programming skills to analyze data, develop models, and enhance utility management strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and project documentation.
  • Participate in field assessments, data collection, and site evaluations.
  • Work closely with clients under supervision of a senior team member to understand their needs and provide innovative solutions.
  • Actively seek opportunities for professional development and growth within the utility management field.
  • Embrace a culture of excellence, teamwork, and innovation in all aspects of your work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering 
  • Understanding of the utility industry
  • 3 years experience in transmission and / or distribution planning 
  • Understanding of technology as well as socio-economic trends impacting the utility industry
  • Proficiency in Python programming for data analysis and modeling.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, dedication in the assigned duties and a highly cooperative spirit. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English 

Preferred but Not Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with or at a utility company/sector
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a strong desire for continuous learning.
  • Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD and/or CYME would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Eagerness to take on new challenges and contribute to the improvement of utility management practices.
