The Transportation Project Engineer will execute a variety of transportation assignments involving highways, local roadways, bicycle facilities, and bridge capital improvement projects. They may oversee the entire design process, serve as a Task Lead or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. The Project Engineer will develop plans and reports for transportation projects according to established engineering standards and local, state or federal policies and requirements.
Your Role
- Perform Geometric Design of Roadways, Roadway Hydrology and Hydraulics, Signage and Pavement Markings design, and Traffic Control Plan development.
- Manage and prepare engineering studies, schematic design and final design of highways, intersections, and roadways including plans, specifications and estimates;
- Assess the requirements of a project, and work with the Project Manager to determine scope of work, budget and staffing needs;
- Write a scope of work for transportation design services based on preliminary review and meetings with the client
- Direct, assign, and review work of project design team. Coordinate all aspects of project documentation within company and externally with clients;
- Assures that the firm’s QA/QC procedures are followed and met
- Manage and mentor junior staff;
- Assist in identifying potential work and teaming opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas required;
- 8+ years of current relevant transportation engineering experience in Texas required; Experience with TxDOT and local Municipalities preferred;
- Proficiency in Microstation is required. Proficiency in Open Roads Designer is preferred.
- Experience assisting with writing proposals preferred
- Familiarity with relevant transportation engineering manuals and industry standards;
- Ability to work in a multitasking, fast-paced environment; meeting time schedules and deadlines; individually as well as within a team environment
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
- This position could require periodic travel, approximately 15% or more
