This includes addressing the challenges posed by the current war, as well as preparing for future post-war reconstruction in Ukraine.

 Position responsibilities

Tetra Tech has an opportunity for a Security Assistant who will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of staff and visitors in Ukraine. The Security Assistant will act as the primary point of contact for transportation and security matters, monitor security risks, and help in emergency situations. This is a critical role requiring vigilance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in rotating shifts, including night shifts.  This is a full-time position for the period of one year with the possibility of an extension. This position will be based in Kyiv and will report to the Senior Security and Risk Manager. Learn more about the here.

 Position responsibilities

  • Serve as the focal point of contact on transportation and security coordination for project staff and international visitors in Ukraine.
  • Act as a security control room operator while on duty.
  • Stay alert and vigilant throughout the work shift. This includes actively monitoring, staying aware of all relevant risks, and promptly alerting the Security Manager to any signs of potential security risks.
  • Share relevant information with the Security Manager and any permitted distribution groups.
  • Collect and compile security information using various reliable sources and cross-check any unconfirmed information (Telegram groups, internet sources, applications, any other influential groups).
  • Conduct and keep a record of regular check-in communication with expatriate staff and international visitors (Location Check-in; Traveling to/from Ukraine; Journey Management, and Air Alerts).
  • Journey Management: track and report staff’s locations during the field visits and monitor the security situation.
  • Track and keep records of the locations of long-stay expats and short-stay visitors while in Ukraine.
  • Coordinate assistance and provide guidance to staff in emergency situations.
  • Administer the office access, visitors log, and mail receiving and dispatch.

 Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., data analysis, communication, management, political science, or international relations).
  • At least one year of relevant professional experience in security management, law enforcement, or military affairs.
  • Ukrainian citizenship.
  • Professional working knowledge of English.
  • Native Ukrainian speaker.
  • Proficient computer literacy with practical experience using Microsoft Office applications.

Valued qualifications

  • Previous experience working in international development or relief.
  • Excellent skills in information collection and analysis, with the ability to recognize potential threats and risks.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • High sense of discretion and integrity when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Ability to handle difficult and often frustrating work situations.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in drafting incident or analytical reports.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including night shifts.
