Research Assistant, Media Literacy and Resilience to Disinformation Evaluation

Project Summary:
The purpose of this Task Order is to conduct a mid-term evaluation of the performance of the USAID-funded YouThink Activity in North Macedonia. The evaluation focuses on examining the technical approach of media literacy and resilience to disinformation activity, examining its design adequacy, contextual fit within the education system, and the recently revised USAID North Macedonia Country Development and Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) 2020-2027.

Position Summary:
The Research Assistant will provide local research support to the evaluation of the USAID North Macedonia Project during the fieldwork period. This position will require working closely and intermittently with the Team Leader and local Evaluation Specialists to provide co-facilitation and note-taking support to focus groups, and to transcribe and translate all fieldwork notes to English. This is a short-term consultancy position with a maximum anticipated level of effort of eight days, comprised of part-time support over the course of two weeks. The position will be based in North Macedonia and may require two-three travel days within North Macedonia.
Responsibilities:
- Support the team in organizing key informant interviews and focus group schedule, as needed.
- Co-facilitate focus groups as requested.
- Provide note-taking support, transcribing and translation to English of field notes.
- Provide interpretation of data during the analysis stage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social science, education, political science, or a related field required.
- Minimum two years of experience as a Research Assistant on research or evaluation of democracy and governance, education, or media projects required.
- Strong interpersonal, supervision, and written/oral communication skills.
- Written and spoken proficiency in English and Macedonian required. Fluency in Albanian preferred.
