Summary:
Tetra Tech is seeking a Process/Chemical Renewable Energy Engineer with industry experience. The engineer will be responsible as the design technical lead and project manager on Renewable Energy (e.g., landfill gas, anaerobic digestion, biogas, bioenergy and renewable natural gas (RNG) waste-to-energy), renewable fuels/chemicals (e.g., syngas, hydrogen and ammonia) and/or wastewater treatment (organics, abandoned mine lands (AML), acid mine drainage (AMD), etc. projects).
Your Role:
- Perform engineering design for projects related to renewable energy (RNG, bioenergy), fuels, and wastewater treatment, etc. on both new and existing projects:
- New project development and design
- Existing project trouble shooting and evaluation yielding improvement, upgrades, and efficiency increases
- Create technical documentation, specifications, and operating procedures.
- Produces and checks process engineering deliverables, as defined by RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulting, and Informed) and engineering standards:
- Process Simulations
- Basis of Designs
- Block Flow Diagrams
- Process Flow Diagrams
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Process Safety Valve (PSV) Calculations/Sizing
- Line Lists
- Equipment sizing, datasheets, and specifications
- Operating Procedures
- Vendor product technical evaluations
- Manage staff and direct teams in the successful, timely project completion.
- Collaborates with the development team & clients in the preparation and coordination of proposals/RFIs, bills of material, evaluation of product technical data, and other marketing efforts.
- Review internal and external design documents and provide feedback on concept and code compliance, adherence to contract requirements, constructability, cost optimization and other factors for a complete and accurate design package.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or process engineering.
- Master’s degree a plus.
- 8+ years of demonstrated, industry experience in process, chemical and renewable energy sector(s).
- Experience with focus on system efficiency, reliability, safety, trouble shooting, optimization, and waste minimization.
- Must be an effective communicator (written, oral, presentation) and leader to success in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
- Management and execution of multiple project efforts, prioritizing task and resources.
- Must have an active working knowledge utilizing job specific software:
- Microsoft Office products (e.g., Microsoft Windows – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Process simulation software to properly design, troubleshoot, and optimize a variety of operations (e.g., Promax, Aspen HYSYS, Chemcad, Aveva).
- PE strongly preferred, or an ability to acquire.
- A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
