The opportunity

  • Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
  • Full-time, fixed-term appointment until 30 June 2027
  • This role is reserved for PNG nationals


The program

Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) supports Papua New Guinea’s development by strengthening education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity, while building enduring Australia–PNG relationships. The program delivers high-quality education, fosters institution-to-institution partnerships, and develops the next generation of PNG leaders.


The role

The Events Coordinator will lead end-to-end planning and delivery of Australia Awards PNG events, ensuring high-quality, inclusive and compliant program activities. Reporting to the Manager, Support Service, you will manage the events database, budgets, suppliers, logistics, invitations, risk and GEDSI/health-and-safety measures and oversee on-the-day operations and post-event evaluation. The role will work closely with procurement, finance and program teams to produce materials, maintain accurate records, support procurement, and contribute to program reporting and continuous improvement. Strong stakeholder engagement, excellent organisation, event experience and a commitment to inclusion are essential.


Key responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver all events end-to-end, on time and within budget.
  • Manage events database, templates, RSVPs, service providers and on-site logistics.
  • Prepare event costings, running sheets, risk and GEDSI/health-and-safety plans.
  • Liaise with Communications for invitations, promotional materials and post-event evaluation.
  • Maintain supplier relationships, process invoices and support compliant procurement.


Selection criteria

  • Undergraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in admin/project management, communications or HR.
  • Demonstrated event and project management experience, ideally in international development.
  • Strong organisation, time management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent report-writing, record-keeping and MS Office 365 proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively; commitment to GEDSI principles.
