The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is looking for a part-time Junior-Level Environmental Scientist based in Bloomington, MN.  

 

Position Summary
The selected candidate will help support environmental due diligence, compliance, and NEPA assessment reporting efforts for projects in the upper Midwest. Hours per week will be variable but can be up to full-time during peak times.

 

Essential Job Functions

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:

  • Desktop reviews of historical site data

  • Field visits to document environmental conditions at sites

  • Report preparation for due diligence assessments

  • Cultural and wetland field survey assistance

  • Assistance with project coordination activities

  • Daily interaction with project teams, clients, subcontractors and regulatory agency staff

Required Qualifications

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in biological science, earth sciences, or natural resources

  • 1-5 years of environmental consulting experience

  • Driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required
     

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully support complex and time sensitive projects

  • Excellent client interaction and organizational skills

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Highly motivated, customer-focused and work well in a team environment

  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications including MS Word and Excel

  • Previous experience with wetland delineations or site investigation and field sampling for soil and groundwater

 

Physical Requirements

  • Walk around project sites in all types of terrains for multiple days in a row

  • Ability to carry up to 25 pounds of equipment such as maps, GPS unit, field screening equipment and cameras during field work

 

Work Environment / Environmental Factors

  • Field activities take place in a variety of weather conditions and can occur in remote locations and include areas of uneven terrain

  • The work environment will consist of a mix of office and field work

  • Travel requirements may include day-long projects that do not require overnight stays to multi-day field projects that do require overnight stays

  • Work locations may include urban and rural areas and occur in any season and in any weather
     

Additional Information

  • This part-time position requires up to 50% travel
  • Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, (AM to 5PM with hours somewhat flexible.  Hours per week will be variable (up to full-time during peak times)
  • Some overtime may be required during longer field efforts
  • Travel requirements may include overnight travel over the weekend
  • Work may include day-long field projects and multi-day field projects
  • Must be able to drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Benefits
Tetra Tech offers a basic core medical plan and our 401k retirement plan for this position. 

The rate of pay for this position is $21.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
