The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is looking for a fill-time Ecologist/Biologist based in Bloomington, MN. 

 

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to provide mid-level biological support to on-going projects addressing environmental concerns of renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage) and other types of projects throughout North America.

 

Essential Job Functions

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:

  • Assist in the development of biological assessments, wildlife conservation strategies (WCS), eagle conservation plans (ECP) and other assessments in compliance with the Endangered Species Act and other environmental rules, regulations, and associated permitting.
  • Support identification of a strategy for project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidance for biological resources.
  • Support project development services such as work scopes, proposals and costs.
  • Opportunity to support and manage projects.
  • Daily interaction with project teams, clients, subcontractors and regulatory agency staff.
  • Assist with other environmental due diligence and compliance tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in biology, ecology, geography, environmental science/policy, natural resources, or a related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental consulting.

     

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, oral presentation, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker and analytical problem-solver.
  • Strong technical report writer/editor.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully support complex and time sensitive projects.
  • Highly motivated, client focused, and work well in a team environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.

     

In addition:

  • Driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with GIS/GPS, with knowledge of ArcGIS Pro preferred. 

     

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to walk around project sites in all types of terrain.

  • Life and carry equipment weighing up to 25lbs, such as GPS antenna, tablet, and shovel or soil probe during field work.

     

 

Work Environment / Environmental Factors

  • The work environment will mostly consist of office work with some field work. 

     

  • Travel requirements may include day-long projects that do not require overnight stays. 

    • For multi-day projects, extended travel of 5 to 10 days is typical but may be up to 12 days. 

       

  • Work locations may include urban and rural areas and occur in any season and in any weather. 

  • Office work when not traveling is on-site.

 

Additional Information

  • This full-time position typically requires approximately 20% travel.

  • Standard schedule is Monday through Friday but can vary if working in the field.

  • Must be able to drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

The Salary Range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
