Tetra Tech is adding an Environmental Scientist with expertise in environmental permitting, regulations, natural resources, and protected species. The ideal candidate will excel in habitat assessments, plant and wildlife identification, wetland delineations, jurisdictional determinations, and technical writing for environmental analysis documents.

Your Role:

  • Conduct field surveys, including wetland ecology and delineations, wildlife habitat assessments, plant identification, and media assessments.
  • Perform jurisdictional determinations and wetland delineations in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prepare high-quality technical documents using Windows-based and GIS/GPS field data-collection software.
  • Collaborate with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Assist with federal, state, and local permitting processes, primarily within the Southeastern U.S.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and safety protocols.
  • Travel to project locations, often in challenging weather conditions, and provide field support as needed.
  • Follow and promote health and safety policies and project-specific safety plans.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, ecology, or related fields.
  • 2–3 years of relevant professional experience combining fieldwork and technical reporting.
  • Familiarity with wetland flora and fauna in the Southeastern U.S. preferred.
  • Experience with Southeast U.S. regulatory agencies and permitting processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software applications; experience with GPS/GIS field data-collection software is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and travel requirements.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
