Project Summary

Tetra Tech provides energy expertise and related technical and investment implementation support to clients in Europe and Eurasia focusing on enhancing the resilience, reliability, affordability, and security of the energy and power generation sectors. Our activities include assignments across the region, that cover technical and economic analyses, feasibility and market studies, sector reform, technical due diligence, tendering, supervision, project implementation support. Our international work involves complex projects and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.

 

Position Summary

Tetra Tech seeks an experienced energy expert to support growth and diversification as well as project-based assignments in the electricity sector across Europe and Eurasia. You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams delivering diverse international projects, with opportunities to contribute to technical leadership, coordinate workstreams, and support team management on complex assignments. Interested candidates must be based in and eligible to work in Germany or remotely in the countries of residence in Europe. This position is full-time, and hiring is contingent upon client approval.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support the delivery and management of a portfolio of Tetra Tech ES projects, and contribute to our diversification efforts, with a focus on Europe & Eurasia in line with the overall global growth strategy
  • Support in structuring of energy sector investment projects, assessing IFI requirements, reviewing project and contractual documentation, including EPC, O&M and other agreements, and managing project risks
  • Collaborate with technical experts to screen, evaluate, prioritize, and build strategic pipelines of high-potential, bankable energy projects
  • Lead and coordinate technical teams on independent/owner’s engineer assignments and lenders technical advisory, including due diligence and implementation support for renewable energy, power generation and storage projects
  • Engage with banks, development finance institutions, and private investors and map financing options for renewable energy, power generation and other infrastructure projects. 
  • Conduct investment analysis and financial modelling of energy related projects    
  • Support technical teams on FIDIC Engineer-related tasks during project implementation, including contract administration, technical reviews and monitoring of project compliance. 
  • Cooperate closely with other Tetra Tech operating units in Europe, with a view to collaborating on new opportunities and approaches to new clients
  • Interact directly with clients under the supervision of a senior team member; work as part of a team on complex assignment projects
  • Raise Tetra Tech ES’ profile in the market through outreach and knowledge sharing on global emerging practices related to the energy transition and evolving technologies 
  • Represent Tetra Tech ES as a thought leader at conferences, webinars and on social media platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, engineering, or a related field 
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector, in areas such as electricity generation, electricity systems, gas systems and energy investments 
  • Solid understanding of energy investment project cycle requirements ideally with project developers and multinational energy companies. 
  • Experienced in investment analysis, project finance, or infrastructure finance 
  • Experience in supporting energy infrastructure financial structuring and implementation in an international environment, including transition economies 
  • Experience in working within large teams from diverse backgrounds and skill sets 
  • Strong organization/analytical skills; experience working with detailed technical data and reports 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information and deliver verbal and written messages effectively 
  • Fluency (speaking, listening, writing, reading) in English 
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams 
  • Willingness to travel internationally to project locations and conferences
     

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the Eastern European, Western Balkans and/or Central Asian energy sector  
  • Understanding of the European energy market, and related regulatory framework (energy acquis) and understanding the implications for key stakeholders involved 
  • Experience in working for consulting, government or energy firms, preferably to include MDBs and IFIs 
  • Oral and written communication skills in French, Russian and/or Ukrainian
     

 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently remain in a stationary position sitting or standing at a desk
  • Occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operate office equipment, such as computer, copy machine, scanner, or printer
  • Constantly communicate information and ideas so others will understand
  • Constantly observe details at close range
     

 

Additional Information

  • Employment type: This is a fulltime position
  • Work schedule: Monday – Friday, standard core business hours (8:30 AM – 5:30 PM local time); some flexibility required to overlap core business hours for team collaboration and occasionally overlap with United States eastern standard time business hours
  • Work location: This position is fully remote with occasional in person team meetings or corporate events (all arrangements subject to review and may change at the company’s discretion)
  • Travel requirements: Periodic international and/or regional travel may be required (including air travel, during which the employee may be required to remain seated for extended periods of time), including to conflict zones or areas with extreme temperatures 
  • Line management responsibility: N/A
