Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant, you will play a key role within a national ground investigation team, delivering high-quality geotechnical and geo-environmental services across a diverse client base. Working within a multidisciplinary team of specialists, you will manage ground investigations from proposal through to completion, ensuring technical excellence, commercial performance and client satisfaction.
This role supports a growing business with ambitious expansion plans, offering the opportunity to contribute to major projects across sectors including energy, water, defence and property, while advancing your own technical and project leadership capabilities.
Your Impact in this Position
You will lead and manage site investigations, ensuring safe, efficient and technically robust delivery. Acting as a key point of contact for clients, you will build trusted relationships while driving project performance and quality. Your expertise will support informed decision-making on complex ground conditions, while your leadership will help develop junior team members and strengthen overall team capability.
Core Capabilities
Technical Delivery & Site Investigation
- Lead ground investigations including soil and rock logging to BS5930, groundwater and ground gas monitoring
- Interpret site data and produce clear, accurate technical reports
Project & Commercial Management
- Manage projects through the full lifecycle, including planning, delivery and close-out
- Oversee budgets, subcontractors and programme to ensure successful outcomes
Health, Safety & Environmental Leadership
- Apply strong HSE principles to all site activities
- Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements
Client Engagement & Communication
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Deliver clear, concise reporting and technical advice
Team Collaboration & Development
- Work collaboratively within a national, multidisciplinary team
- Support and mentor junior colleagues, contributing to team growth
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Degree in geology or a related discipline, with proven experience in ground investigation and site supervision. Strong project management capability and technical reporting skills are essential. Membership of a professional body and progress towards Chartership are desirable, alongside relevant site certifications (e.g. CSCS, SMSTS).
Working Environment
Based in Leeds, with projects primarily across the north of England and occasional UK-wide travel. This role offers a flexible, hybrid working model, typically involving 1–2 days per week in the office and a balance of site and home working. Site work will form a key part of the role, with travel and occasional overnight stays required.
