Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Geo-environmental Engineer, you will support the delivery of ground investigation and consultancy services across diverse sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, education and defence. You’ll be involved in the full project lifecycle—from early-stage desk studies through to site supervision and technical reporting—ensuring high-quality, data-driven outcomes for clients. This role offers strong development opportunities within an established and expanding national team.
Your Impact in this position
You will play a key role in designing and managing ground investigations, collecting and interpreting site data, and delivering clear, technically robust reports. Your work will inform critical decisions on land quality, risk management and development feasibility. With a balance of office and site-based responsibilities, you’ll contribute directly to safe, compliant and efficient project delivery.
Core Capabilities
Technical Delivery: Contribute to the design, procurement and execution of ground investigations and produce high-quality desk studies and interpretative reports
Site Operations: Supervise site works, logging, sampling and contractor coordination. Undertake groundwater and ground gas monitoring and assessment
Data & Reporting Excellence: Accurately collect, analyse and present environmental and geotechnical data. Deliver clear, concise and technically sound documentation
Health, Safety & Compliance: Apply best practice in health, safety and environmental management and ensure compliance across all investigation activities
Collaboration & Communication: Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate confidently with colleagues, contractors and clients
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Degree in geology, engineering geology or environmental science. Experience in ground investigation including site work, logging, monitoring and reporting. Strong written and verbal communication skills with solid IT capability. A good understanding of HSE practices. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work (circa 50%, with occasional overnight stays). Eligibility for security clearance required. Desirable: CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, CAT & Genny, First Aid, Water Hygiene.
Working Environment
Based in Leeds with a hybrid working approach. Expect a mix of office, site and remote work, with around 2–3 days in the office depending on project needs. Flexible working patterns supported. Site work will form a significant part of the role.
