Purpose & Scope of the Role
Our Geo-Environmental Team is a dynamic group of around 100 specialists spread across 10 offices throughout the UK and Ireland, working across three core disciplines: Ground Investigation, Land Quality & Remediation (including PFAS & EDD services) and Groundwater & Geothermal. We serve key sectors including Energy, Water, Defence, Nuclear and Property, and have grown our business by approximately 50% over the last four years, with ambitious plans to continue this growth.
We are looking for a Geo-environmental Consultant / Engineering Geologist to join our team in Leeds, working largely across the north of England. You will be part of a northern geo-environment consulting team of 30 staff (11 based in Leeds) within a wider national team of 100 specialists. The team delivers services to a broad range of private and public sector clients, often as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
Your Impact in this Position
You will be responsible for delivering engineering geology and geo-environmental services across a range of challenging projects and sites. This includes supporting key clients such as water utilities, development organisations and government bodies.
Your work will involve producing desk-based assessments, developing conceptual site models, designing and managing ground investigations, interpreting data and preparing reports. You will also contribute to remediation and earthworks strategies, mining risk assessments, and provide input during construction phases. In addition, you will support tendering activities, project and financial management, and collaborate closely with colleagues and clients.
Core Capabilities
Site Assessment & Ground Modelling
- Production of desk-based assessments of site geology, hydrogeology, history and risk to develop ground and conceptual site models
Ground Investigation & Reporting
- Design of geotechnical and contamination investigations, data interpretation and preparation of interpretative reports
Remediation & Earthworks
- Production of remediation strategies and earthworks specifications, including input into construction phase activities
Site Supervision & Delivery
- Ground investigation management, site supervision, and support during remediation and earthworks implementation
Collaboration & Project Support
- Input into tendering, project and financial management, and liaison with multidisciplinary teams and clients
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
A degree or Masters in geology or engineering geology, with experience in ground investigation, geotechnical and geo-environmental assessment and reporting. Experience in mining risk, earthworks and remediation is beneficial. Strong written and verbal communication skills, IT literacy, and a good understanding of health, safety and CDM regulations are important. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work are required.
Working Environment
The role is based in Leeds with work primarily across the north of England. The position includes a mix of office, site and home working. Flexible working arrangements are supported, including hybrid working, with travel required for site investigations and supervision activities.
