Project Background:

The objective of the “Workplace Advancement for Gender Equality” (WAGE) project is to continue adapting and scaling up USAID’s efforts to increase gender equality and women’s economic empowerment opportunities within traditionally male-dominated sectors. This Task Order will expand and scale USAID’s programming focused on increasing gender equality and women’s empowerment in traditionally male dominated sectors, by 1) continuing to support the energy sector, and 2) adapting and applying the model to new sectors, particularly those that advance sustainable urban service delivery and economic growth of urban centers.



Summary:

The Technical Specialist provides support to the three-person key personnel team and collaborates with other personnel on the USAID funded Workplace Advancement for Gender Equality (WAGE) program.  S/he will support technical design and implementation of the project, support project management activities and support project operations as needed.

 

Responsibilities:


Support technical design and implementation of the project including: 

o Conduct research and undertake analyses related to energy, water and gender 

o Support the preparation of technical presentations, reports, papers and other deliverables

o Coordinate team input into reports

o Support WAGE key personnel with day-to-day tasks 

o Assist task leads with drafting work plans

o Coordinate and support methods to encourage more virtual connection amongst program participants

o Facilitate knowledge management activities 

o Maintain project shared folder of project documents, reports, photos and other information


Support project management activities including

o Assist task leads with drafting procurement documents, updating project trackers, etc.  

o Coordinate and prepare financial tracking, forecasting, and internal reporting including preparing labor forecasts, accruals and periodic forecast, reviewing AP vouchers other direct costs and client invoices


Support project operations as needed:

o Provide meeting support: preparing agendas, taking and distributing meeting minutes, and following up on action items.

o Support team to make logistical arrangements for in-country site visits calendar coordination; arranging logistics and calendar with in-country part

Essential KSA’s required (experience, skills, education, certification, etc.):

 

Required Bachelor’s degree in international development/studies, business administration or another related field

Experience with gender analysis and/or gender integration in development programming or projects

Must speak, read and write in English

Excellent writing and communication skills. Able to communicate complex information and deliver verbal and written messages effectively.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills. 

Strong research capabilities, using a variety of primary and secondary sources.

Strong organizational, teamwork and technical skills.

Must be able to manage several tasks simultaneously and re-prioritize as necessary.

Must work effectively under deadlines, both independently and as a team member.

Must be able to produce accurate and complete documents in a timely manner.

Must have excellent listening skills and highly developed sense of responsibility and commitment to customer service.

Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Must be able to travel (international field sites), as needed

 

Valued but not required KSA’s:

Master’s degree in economics, international development/studies or another related field is preferred

Experience with change management, human resources and organizational development approaches within work places, especially utilities 

Prior work experience with USAID programs

A foreign language is a plus: French, Spanish, Portuguese
