The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding an experienced Technical Editor to support technical documentation and facility operations in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience reviewing, developing, and revising highly technical documents and procedures supporting DOE facilities, commercial nuclear facilities, or high-hazard non-nuclear facilities. This position requires strong technical editing skills, attention to detail, and experience evaluating documentation for potential impacts to safety management programs, training and qualification materials, and facility operations.

Essential Job Function:

  • Review and edit technical documents, procedures, policies, and programs supporting facility operations.
  • Review revisions to procedures, policies, programs, and major facility modifications for potential impacts to safety management programs.
  • Review documentation for impacts to training and qualification program materials and job task analyses.
  • Develop and/or revise documents and procedures that provide instructions for the operation of key facility systems and processes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation associated with safety-related systems, including systems that are or may be required by the facility Authorization Basis.
  • Develop and/or revise Operations Center Response procedures.
  • Ensure technical documents are clear, accurate, consistent, and appropriately formatted.
  • Collaborate with technical subject matter experts, operations personnel, and project teams to develop and revise documentation.
  • Utilize LaTeX to develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation.
  • Maintain document quality and consistency in accordance with established procedures and project requirements.
  • Conduct activities in accordance with internal procedures, applicable requirements, and industry standards.
  • Work safely at all times and report health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Communications, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience editing technical documents in support of facility operations at DOE facilities, commercial nuclear facilities, or high-hazard non-nuclear facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, and revising technical procedures and controlled documentation.
  • Experience reviewing documentation associated with safety management programs, facility modifications, training and qualification programs, and/or job task analyses.
  • Experience working with technical documentation associated with facility systems and operational processes.
  • Experience using LaTeX is required.
  • Strong technical writing, editing, proofreading, and document-quality skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex technical information.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical subject matter experts and project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple document assignments and meet established deadlines.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DOE Q Clearance preferred.
  • Experience supporting DOE nuclear or other highly regulated facility environments.
  • Experience with Authorization Basis-related documentation and safety-related systems.
  • Experience developing or revising Operations Center Response procedures.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience

Pay Range: $35.00/hr. - $45.00/hr.

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

 

A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
