Proposal Summary: 

MSI is pursuing the USAID Digital Strategy Implementation and Programs activity with an expected start date of September 2022. The activity, managed through USAID’s Innovation, Technology, and Research Hub’s Technology Division (ITR/T), will build the capacity of USAID Missions, Washington Operating Units, and partners to advance digital initiatives that enhance security and economic prosperity while safeguarding individual rights, freedom of expression, and democratic norms.

 

The five-year buy-in activity is expected to support USAID across a broad spectrum of tech sectors and practice areas and will be required to engage a diverse range of external stakeholders, firms, and consultants to provide USAID with the depth of expertise needed to advance effective digital interventions.

 

Position Summary:

The Technology Advisor will serve as the main activity contact for technology, cybersecurity, and digitalization. They will advise USAID and external stakeholders on emerging technologies and how they may be applied to USAID’s work. The Technology Advisor will work closely with the Director and Buy In Manager to build and maintain an extensive pool of qualified experts and firms to solve technology challenges for USAID.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Advise USAID and external stakeholders on emerging technologies and how they may be applied to further USAID’s development goals.
  • Curate and maintain a roster of qualified experts and firms across a broad range of technical areas.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to development experts.
  • Drive digitalization across USAID and promote the buy-in activity.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • A total of ten (10) years of experience working in technology, cybersecurity, or digitalization within the development field.
  • Advanced degree in technology field related to technology, cybersecurity, or digitalization.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical matters to development experts.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay up to date on emerging technologies.
  • Ability to travel globally, up to 15%.
