Summary
We are seeking a Systems Engineer/Systems Administrator to support the testing, integration, installation, administration, troubleshooting, and sustainment of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems. The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical support for complex integrated systems in laboratory, shipboard, and shore-based environments.
This position requires a technically versatile professional with experience supporting windows-based environments, system integration and testing, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance. The candidate must possess an active secret security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Recommend hardware and software configurations to support the testing and evaluation of agency systems and integrated system environments.
- Perform system administration activities for operations analysis and simulation sciences system and windows-based platforms.
- Develop, maintain, and execute test scripts to support system testing, validation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Respond to trouble tickets, casualty reports, and other reported system failures.
- Analyze hardware, software, network, and integrated system issues; perform or support repairs and restoration activities.
- Identify root causes and recommend both short-term corrective actions and long-term solutions to recurring system problems.
- Evaluate hardware, software, and network configurations and recommend design improvements.
- Recommend technical improvements that enhance system performance, availability, stability, reliability, and security.
- Support the installation, integration, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of systems.
- Coordinate with engineering, testing, operations, and other technical personnel to resolve system issues and support successful system deployment and sustainment.
- Develop and maintain appropriate technical documentation related to system configurations, testing, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience supporting information technology, systems engineering, system administration, system integration, testing, or a closely related technical environment.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting windows-based systems.
- Experience installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software.
- Experience diagnosing system failures and identifying appropriate corrective actions.
- Ability to develop and execute technical test procedures or test scripts.
- Working knowledge of computer systems, networks, hardware, software, and integrated IT environments.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to document technical issues, findings, resolutions, and recommendations clearly and accurately.
- Ability to work effectively in laboratory, shipboard, and shore-based technical environments.
- Ability to travel up to 20%
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, or other Federal C4ISR environments.
- Experience with operations analysis and simulation sciences system and windows-based platforms or comparable operations analysis, simulation, or integrated IT environments.
- Experience supporting National Security Cutters or other shipboard systems.
- Familiarity with casualty reports processes and operational system troubleshooting.
- Experience with system integration, verification, validation, and acceptance testing.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and system-hardening practices within Federal or Department of Defense environments.
- Relevant technical certifications in Microsoft, networking, cybersecurity, or systems administration are a plus.
Salary Range: $82,400 - $88,400
