Position Summary:

Survey CAD Technician responsible for supporting boundary, topographic, and infrastructure design surveys through precise processing of field survey data and production of high-quality deliverables. This office-based role focuses on transforming raw field data, point clouds, legal descriptions, and survey control into accurate boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking files in support of licensed surveyors and engineering teams. The position requires strong technical proficiency in survey data workflows, CAD production, and quality control standards.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Process raw field data from total stations, GPS/GNSS, and LiDAR platforms.
  • Translate survey data into accurate CAD drawings and deliverables.
  • Prepare boundary surveys, plats, legal descriptions, and exhibit drawings.
  • Develop topographic survey layouts and surface models.
  • Analyze design plans to generate field staking data.
  • Perform quality-control reviews of survey drawings and files.
  • Ensure deliverables meet client CAD standards and formatting requirements.
  • Work with coordinate systems, datums, units, and conversions.
  • Refine and model point-cloud data for survey mapping.
  • Collaborate with surveyors and field crews to resolve discrepancies.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in surveying and mapping or related field.

  • Ability to work independently in a production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Effective communication skills with surveyors and technical teams.
  • Willingness to support varied survey project types as needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of survey methods and data-processing workflows.
  • Familiarity with plats, deeds, easements, and legal descriptions.
  • Experience preparing boundary survey layouts and staking files.
  • Working knowledge of GIS concepts.
  • Experience working with LiDAR and 3D modeling.
  • Part 107 Drone License.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.

  • Occasional site or office visits may be required to coordinate with project teams or review design documentation.
