Strategic Engagement and Communications Intern for Climate Adaptation Support Activity – US based remote

The USAID-funded Climate Adaptation Support Activity (CASA), implemented by Tetra Tech International Development, is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a Strategic Engagement and Communications Intern.

 

 

Position Description: This intern will support a range of tasks to inform the development of materials and the management of processes to support USAID, its Missions and operating units, and various partners, as they advance both incremental and transformational climate adaptation. The intern will support and engage in tasks including (but not limited to): development of strategic communications materials; planning for consultations and/or convenings; management of trainings and capacity building processes; literature review, data analysis, and knowledge synthesis; drafting of documents and reports.

 

 

The position can be fully remote from a continental US-based location or hybrid within a commutable distance to either one of our office locations in Winooski, VT or Arlington, VA. This internship is paid, and hours are flexible, up to 10 per week for up to 6 months.

 

 

Responsibilities:

* Draft communications materials related to climate adaptation topics (to include blog posts, talking points, presentations, e.g.).

* Plan and manage consultations and training events (will likely be virtual in nature).

* Coordinate partnerships, meetings, and convenings with USAID and other stakeholders.

* Create actionable information related to advancing climate adaptation action (e.g., analyze and organize data, conduct research, synthesize information).

* Draft documents and reports (policy briefs, research reports, e.g.).

Minimum Qualifications Required:

* Minimum bachelor’s degree completed in climate science, climate change, international development, humanitarian studies, sociology, economics, international relations, public administration, public health, disaster risk, or another related field.

* Strong critical thinking skills; ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of information.

* Familiarity, strong interest, and/or desire to pursue a career in the fields of international development; climate change adaptation; disaster risk management; nature-based solutions; climate services; climate and conflict; gender equality and social inclusion; co-production of knowledge; and community engagement.

* Strong collaborator; effective communicator, particularly in writing.

* Initiative, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.

* Experience in event coordination, communications, partnership management, and/or organizational development desired.

* Current U.S. work authorization is required at the time of application.
