 Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. •    Master’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology with a demonstrated focus in bioarchaeology is preferred.
•    Meet or will soon meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and Historic Preservation.
•    5 years of cultural resource management experience 
•    Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 25%.
•    Technical specialization in digital applications, mapping and modeling, cemetery archaeology, geoarchaeology, remote sensing, or other sub-disciplines will be highly valued for this position.  
•    Ability to identify, record, and analyze archaeological artifacts, features, and sites in-field and through GIS.
•    Ability to interpret and synthesize archaeological and historical data to furnish reporting under Section 106 review and NEPA assessment.
•    High proficiency with technical writing to support environmental contracts.
•    Proficiency with electronic devices, ESRI ArcPro, and office software.
•    In-depth knowledge of the requirements for archaeological project execution including logistics and permitting needs.
•    Knowledge of federal, state, and/or local regulations and statutes.
•    Geographically broad archaeological experience in the US and/or abroad is valued.
•    Prior experience writing NEPA cultural resource sections highly desired.
•    Prior experience producing GIS deliverables highly desired.
•    Prior experience conducting document reviews and writing technical documents highly desired.
•    Direct experience with federal and state agencies’ cultural resource regulations is highly desired.
•    Direct experience with DoD Section 106 compliance; previous work with SHPOs and THPOs highly desired.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.
 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The entails work performed in a field environment, primarily in a Southern and Mid-Atlantic US geographic setting. Field work can involve traversing uneven terrain, remaining in a stationary position, digging, and walking for extended periods of time and will require moving and positioning items weighing up to 50 pounds. You must be able to traverse up to 10 miles a day in varied terrain. However, the position will also require extended periods of work in a remote office environment. Note that office work will be fully remote.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This work is principally performed in a remote office environment, but the employee may be required to travel for field work to complete site investigation and data gathering. The employee may be required to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions as needed to maintain project schedules.

Language & Communication Skills: The employee must be fluent in the English language and able to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. The employee may be required to make presentations at conferences and to clients, and the employee will be responsible for providing high quality written products to include presentations, reports, and proposals.

Other Skills: Instructions: The employee must have strong computer skills and be able to use common software needed for project management and product development (such as Microsoft Office, Arc GIS Pro, and Adobe Pro).

An employee in this remote based position can expect a salary range of  $60,000-75,000.
