Sr Project Civil Engineer, PE
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is seeking an Sr. Project Civil Engineer (PE required) to join our Global Services Design Team. This position is aligned to our Marlborough, Massachusetts office and may be filled on a hybrid basis or fully remote from any location within the United States.

Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:
• Leads project execution for civil/site design, including planning, design coordination, and delivery of civil engineering deliverables
• Coordinates design work with all architectural and engineering disciplines throughout the design process
• Leads collaborative problem-solving to resolve interdisciplinary design conflicts and technical issues
• Prepares construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and design narratives
• Performs site layout, grading, storm drainage infrastructure, and roadway design
• Performs layout and design of water distribution and wastewater collection systems
• Documents applicable design code requirements and design criteria
• Prepares master development plans and engineering studies to support project planning and design
• Reviews construction shop drawings and responds to construction Requests for Information (RFIs)
• Provides oversight, training, and mentoring for junior civil engineering staff to support quality, consistency, and timely delivery
• Pursues continuous professional development and maintains a high level of technical proficiency
• Follows company and regulatory health and safety protocols
• Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
We are seeking experienced civil engineering professionals who thrive in collaborative environments and are motivated by delivering high-quality civil/site design for complex projects. Ideal candidates will possess:
• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive civil engineering experience focused on civil/site and infrastructure design, including leading the development of construction documents and coordinating across disciplines
• Certifications: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering (any U.S. state) required
• Time Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent design tasks and deadlines while maintaining quality and client responsiveness
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and HydroCAD (or equivalent stormwater/storm drainage modeling software); strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and coordinate effectively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders
• Travel Flexibility: Willingness to participate in short-term international travel assignments as needed
• Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams, coordinating across engineering and architectural disciplines to deliver high-quality design solutions, including effective collaboration in a hybrid/remote environment using virtual coordination tools
• US Citizen/Background Check: Due to the clients we serve, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to successfully complete required background screening (which may include criminal history and other checks, as permitted by law)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Driver’s License: Ability to drive on an occasional basis for business purposes is preferred. To do this, you will need a valid driver’s license, pass a motor vehicle record check, and maintain a safe driving record.
Physical Requirements:
• Stand or Sit. Must be able to remain in a stationary position a minimum of 50% of the time.
• Use hands/fingers to handle or feel. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
• Office Environment. Majority of work is performed in an office or home office environment
• Occasional Travel. While traveling may have limited exposure to extreme heat/cold. Since travel is likely to be international in nature employees will need to sit for extended periods on airplane.
Additional Information:
• Employment Type. Full time, regular (40 hours/week). Additional paid overtime may be available with manager approval
• Work Location and Schedule. Marlborough, MA based candidates may work in-office or hybrid (hybrid typically ~3 days/week in the office). Highly qualified candidates anywhere in the U.S. will also be considered for fully remote work. Standard business hours are Monday–Friday; specific hours will be coordinated with your supervisor based on project needs and time zones (includes an unpaid 30-minute lunch)
• Remote Work Policy. Hybrid and fully remote work arrangements (including up to five days per week from home) are subject to Tetra Tech's Remote Work Policy
• Salary and Benefits. The salary range for this position is $112,000 to $128,000. Tetra Tech considers multiple factors in determining pay, including geographic location, qualifications, licensure, certifications, experience, and other skills relevant to business needs.
