Your Role:

The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for overseeing the implementation and enforcement of safety and health protocols at construction or disaster response sites. The SSHO ensures compliance with OSHA standards, including HAZWOPER, by managing safety plans, conducting training, performing site inspections, and coordinating with project officials to maintain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and audit Accident Prevention and Site Safety & Health Plans to ensure site compliance and effectiveness.

  • Provide full-time safety oversight during field operations, continuously monitoring and enforcing safety standards.

  • Conduct safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are promptly taken.

  • Deliver project-specific safety training to personnel to promote awareness and compliance.

  • Maintain emergency availability to respond to safety incidents or concerns.

  • Report safety status, incidents, and compliance issues to senior management.

  • Collaborate with Safety & Health Managers (SHM) and project officials to modify and improve Site Safety & Health Plans (SSHP) as necessary.

  • Enforce safety compliance specifically related to OSHA standards, including HAZWOPER guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30-hour General Industry or Construction Safety certification.

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

  • 8-hour supervisor training and 8-hour refresher training.

  • Experience in occupational safety and health within construction or disaster response environments.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.

  • Excellent communication skills for conducting training and coordinating with project teams.

  • Ability to conduct thorough safety inspections and audits.

  • Proactive approach to hazard identification and mitigation.

  • Ability to maintain composure and respond effectively in emergency situations.

This position with Tetra Tech is temporary and on an "as needed" basis and will end. It is understood that your employment is to be on an "at will" basis.
