Senior Project Manager – Transmission (Remote/Hybrid)
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding an experienced Senior Project Manager – Transmission to support our growing energy practice, with specific emphasis on growing our electric transmission routing and permitting business. With decades of national experience, Tetra Tech offers a wealth of technical knowledge and a strong understanding of federal, state, and local requirements.
Successful candidates will have a strong technical background in electric transmission line routing and substation siting, as well as environmental surveys, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis, and land use planning/permitting. Beyond electric transmission, additional experience in the following areas will be considered: natural gas, battery energy storage, solar, and wind. Our ideal candidate will have pre-existing client relationships and a proven track record of winning and managing electric transmission and other energy work.
Candidates should have an established and successful history managing both small and large-scale projects including developing proposals and cost estimates, overseeing project tasks, managing project budgets and forecasts, developing strategic plans, delivering client satisfaction, and mentoring staff. The candidate will be expected to manage projects with many parts, interface directly with clients, and attend agency meetings, hearings, and other functions. In addition to managing projects, the successful candidate will be a subject matter specialist and technical lead/author on routing/siting studies, environmental studies, and analyses to support regulatory applications.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include project management, team leadership, and mentoring of junior staff. Includes a commitment to meet annual revenue goals and develop/foster prior client relationships.
- This role will direct and oversee energy facility siting/routing, permitting, environmental field surveys, resource analysis, agency coordination, and public outreach, as well as budget and project tracking.
- Candidates will work within a team to prepare and/or direct siting and routing studies and NEPA documents, conditional use, land use, right-of-way, and other permitting efforts.
- In addition to permitting, this role will include managing the preparation of resource studies (e.g., wildlife biology, wetlands, cultural resources) associated with energy project permitting, as well as the production of permit applications to state utility boards.
- Candidates will represent clients before federal, state, and local regulatory and land management agencies, boards, planning commissions and councils.
- Candidates will prepare project descriptions and summaries, respond to data requests, and make presentations to the governing jurisdiction’s representatives in public meetings to obtain approval for projects.
- Candidates will have experience working with environmental, regulatory and land use agencies, such as: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), and/or federal and state agencies, and local county and city planning departments.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in an environmental program. Master’s degree a plus.
- At least 10 to 15+ years of directly applicable work experience.
- Candidates must be able to research and interpret federal, state, and local regulations on a project-specific basis to assess project routing/siting criteria and permitting feasibility and requirements, and interface with regulatory agencies.
- Preference for electric transmission project development experience in states within the Midcontinent Independent System Operation (MISO), Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) electric grid areas.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking, a flexible approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills and attention to details.
- Candidates must be able to handle multiple tasks, coordinate effectively with others, and work independently within a team.
- Must have a valid driver license in good standing and be able to pass the company DMV check to be a Tetra Tech-qualified driver of corporate/rental vehicles.

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $150,000 - $175,000 annually
Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
