Senior Planner & Landscape Designer
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech’s Federal Master Planning Team supports Department of Defense (DoD), other federal, and non-federal clients through integrated planning, design, analysis, and visualization services. Our work combines planning expertise, spatial analysis, data visualization, and technical communication to develop actionable plans that support resilient, sustainable, and mission-ready communities.
Our multidisciplinary team functions as a small, cohesive unit within a much larger company and operates according to three core principles:
· Curiosity and Exploration – We are perpetually curious, building on our expert understanding through continued education and progressive problem-solving. We reject complacency and encourage explorative, collaborative thinking.
· Transparency and Trust – We prioritize transparent communication to create long-lasting relationships, fostering a culture of truth and respect.
· Passion for Planning – We deeply believe in our collective potential to create meaningful impacts on the daily life of a community. The quality of our work is fueled by our passion for planning and owning our clients’ interests as if they are our own.
Our Senior Planners play an important role in bringing together planning analysis, spatial data, and compelling visual communication to support complex federal planning initiatives.

This role blends planning analysis, GIS and data visualization, technical writing and editing, and graphic communication while mentoring junior staff and supporting project managers in delivering complex federal planning initiatives.
The successful candidate will contribute across multiple project phases—from research and analysis to mapping, report development, and final production—ensuring planning concepts, data, and strategies are communicated clearly and effectively.
This role requires a proactive team member who enjoys collaborating across disciplines, managing multiple tasks, taking ownership of project components, and translating complex planning information into clear deliverables.
