We currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to work in one of our New York (Ithaca, Albany, Farmingdale) or Massachusetts (Marlborough, Boston) offices. A remote position may also be considered.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to apply your design expertise on exciting and challenging projects. You will have the chance to mentor and impart knowledge to junior engineers and designers. At the same time, you will be working with one of the region’s top education-related A/E design firms, gaining additional expertise and building on your career.
Tetra Tech A&E provides integrated design services for a wide variety of public buildings, focusing on K-12 educational facilities and work in the federal sector, primarily abroad. We provide innovative architectural design, building systems engineering, interior design, site design, civil design and 3-D Imaging services to clients regionally and globally. Designers engage proven yet innovative building methods and technologies that provide real-world solutions resulting in more efficient and sustainable projects.
Your Role:
- Design of building mechanical systems (HVAC) including appropriate system concepts, calculations, energy modeling, layout, sizing, selections, specifications and coordination
- Perform site visits of existing mechanical systems for evaluation, or to inspect work in progress or completed
- Prepare engineering reports
- Review and respond to team members on project design work, RFIs, submittals, and other construction related documents and issues in a professional and timely manner
- Monitor and control project progress against scope, schedule, and budget
- Attend client meetings and assist in marketing efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar field
- 10+ years of experience designing building mechanical systems
- Experience with design of building mechanical systems for educational facilities is desired
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit/BIM with working knowledge of MS Office
- Proficiency with building energy modeling concepts and software preferred
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
- Ability to work within multi-disciplinary project teams
- Knowledge of and demonstrated interest in energy efficient solutions and designs
- Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills
Additional information:
- Requires satisfactory completion of a background check
- Requires successful evaluation of a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and maintaining a safe driving record as defined by Tetra Tech’s Vehicle Safety program.
Anticipated Salary Range (with PE): $95,000 - $115,000. Please note that this range reflects the pay scale that Tetra Tech INE reasonably expects to pay for the role. The pay scale will also depend on various factors, such as job duties and requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
