Your Role:


We are currently looking for a Senior Hydrogeologist to join in British Columbia to join our broader Western Canada Hydrogeologist team. This position offers the opportunity to work in Tetra Tech’s expanding Environment and Water Practice with a team of experienced geologists, engineers and scientists. The focus of the position will be to provide environmental and hydrogeological consulting services to a variety of clients throughout Western and Northern Canada.


The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of geo-environmental projects including developing and implementing groundwater investigations; water well design and installation; aquifer testing; baseline hydrogeological studies; development of conceptual site models; risk assessment and risk management projects; remediation feasibility studies; and groundwater remedial system design. The candidate must be highly motivated; customer focused and work well in a team environment. The successful candidate will need to manage a heavy workload and occasional travel may be required.


Your Role:

  • Direct site assessments and provide technical advice relating to groundwater contamination assessment, delineation and remediation.
  • Design and implement groundwater monitoring, remediation, and risk management strategies for a portfolio of sites across Western Canada.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals and reports.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, landowners, and other third parties.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and engage in business development activities to grow the hydrogeology team and the Practice.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites across Western Canada (occasional).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills are required.
  • Project management includes the management of technical resources, subcontracts, budget, and schedule.
  • Perform a range of tasks utilizing advanced scientific, geologic, and engineering analytical techniques including, interpretation of complex hydrogeologic settings impacted by emerging contaminants.
  • Mentoring of junior team members.



  • Candidates must have a BSc or MSc (preferred) degree in Geology, Geoscience, or Engineering, focusing on physical and contaminant hydrogeology. 
  • Professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC), or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the environmental/engineering/water resources consulting fields is required.
  • Experience in addressing hydrocarbon, salinity and metals issues in soil and groundwater at contaminated sites including development of specific soil and groundwater remediation guidelines and conducting  analytical models to assess fate and transport of contaminants in the subsurface.
  • Experience with numerical modeling using Modflow and FeFlow will be considered as an asset.
  • Experience in designing groundwater supply projects including installation of water supply and observation wells and execution of aquifer testing programs as per the regulatory requirements for obtaining groundwater diversion licenses for clients.
  • In-depth knowledge of the BC Environmental Management Act (EMA) and Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR) and federal environmental regulations, guidelines, and standards related to Contaminated Sites.
  • Experience managing projects, developing accurate scopes of work, and executing high-quality projects on time and on budget.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to work and succeed as part of a team.
