Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer
The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and will be prepared to make sound engineering decisions in the technical direction and delivery of a wide portfolio of projects. You will see projects through opportunity pursuit, bid, delivery and completion stages and in addition will take responsibility for the timely delivery of project output. You will show an aptitude for project management and financial management.
You should be qualified with a degree in civil engineering or geology, emphasis will be given to candidates with a second degree in a geotechnical engineering or engineering geology related subject. Candidates will preferably be Chartered Engineers (CEng) or Geologists (CGeol) or close to submission of a chartership application to the relevant professional body. Successful candidates will demonstrate a genuine interest in geotechnical engineering and construction and have proven experience in ground risk management, particularly in the transportation, water, energy and building sectors. The candidate shall demonstrate a thorough understanding of UK Standards (EC7, CD622, BS8002, BS8004 etc) within a multi-discipline scenario.
In addition, it is expected that you will be familiar with current geotechnical engineering design software such as SLOPE/SLOPEW, PDISP, WALLAP and PLAXIS 2D and be proficient in the use of some of these within practical applications. It is necessary that you have good communication skills and are particularly experienced in the preparation of technical reports and proposals.
