At Tetra Tech Coffey, we're passionate about helping our clients make informed decisions about land and the environment. As part of our multidisciplinary environmental team, you'll contribute specialist soil science advice across projects spanning Defence, Infrastructure, Mining, Property, Renewables and Government.
Working alongside environmental scientists, ecologists, engineers and hydrogeologists, you'll play an important role in understanding soil constraints, land capability, and sustainable land management to support major projects throughout Queensland.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Soil Scientist who enjoys combining field investigations with technical analysis and practical problem solving.
You'll undertake and lead soil investigations, interpret soil data and provide specialist advice that supports land development and rehabilitation projects.
Working closely with experienced Principals and technical specialists, you'll continue developing your expertise while contributing to a wide variety of projects.
What You'll Do
- Plan and undertake soil surveys and field investigations.
- Describe, classify and map soils in accordance with recognised standards.
- Collect and interpret soil samples and laboratory data.
- Assess land capability, contamination, soil constraints, and remediation requirements.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals and client deliverables.
- Provide practical soil management recommendations to support project development.
- Work collaboratively with environmental scientists, ecologists, geotechnical engineers and hydrogeologists on multidisciplinary projects.
- Develop trusted relationships with clients and regulators.
- Manage and mentor junior team members.
- Contribute to business development and proposal preparation.
About You
We're looking for a passionate Soil Scientist with approximately 8+ years' experience within environmental or natural resource consulting.
You'll bring:
- A degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline.
- Experience undertaking soil surveys, land capability assessments and soil investigations.
- Strong knowledge of Australian soil classification systems and soil assessment methodologies.
- Experience interpreting laboratory results and preparing technical reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A collaborative approach and a genuine interest in working across multidisciplinary projects.
