The Tetra Tech Raleigh, North Carolina and Virginia Beach offices are seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager(s) with 15+ years’ experience executing or managing environmental investigation and remediation projects.  The position(s) will support work under federal / state regulatory authorities for both our government and our commercial clients.  The successful candidate(s) will have unique technical, program management, business development, mentoring and leadership skills and will help us continue to grow our environmental remediation team as well as our portfolio of clients. This position requires the employee to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Your Role:

The Senior Environmental Project Manager(s) will play a key role in supporting client needs on a variety of projects throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region.  Primary responsibilities of the position include: 
•    Work with a team to successfully resolve our client’s environmental issues and liabilities.
•    Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate detailed phases of technical work as part of complex environmental remediation projects, including supervising and coordinating the work of technical and administrative staff.  
•    Manage project scope, schedule and budget.
•    Projects to be managed will include environmental assessments, site investigations, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial designs, remedial operations and maintenance completed using both desktop studies and field investigations. 
•    Interface with client, federal and state regulatory authorities, subcontractors, vendors and other project stakeholders as needed to successfully complete project tasks.
•    Monitor projects for adherence to corporate Health and Safety, Quality Control and Risk Management policies, and recommend/implement changes as needed.
•    Provide mentoring and team building to project staff to support individual growth and successful project delivery.
•    Perform independent reviews and provide senior-level technical support of hazardous waste site clean-up at all stages of the project pipeline (investigation, design, interim remedial/removal action, remediation, long-term monitoring, and operations and maintenance).
•    Provide senior-level technical support on hazardous waste characterization and remediation projects, site-level technical assistance tasks, specialty technical research, and development of best practices-based technology transfer publications and/or training. 
•    Interpret project needs based on regulatory structure and requirements, develop project parameters for environmental investigation and remediation project execution, set milestone schedules, and track progress. 
•    Prepare environmental reports for regulatory review, including data interpretation, tabulation and mapping of analytical results, evaluating and establishing patterns and trends exhibited by such data and determining compliance with regulatory requirements. 
•    Supervise junior staff and/or project team members, providing mentorship and identifying opportunities within project scope and budget for junior staff to obtain progressive, relevant experience and skills.
•    Provide supporting roles in proposals and marketing. 
•    Lead or assist in business development with new or existing clients for additional projects in environmental compliance, remediation, permitting, and related services. 

 

Qualifications:

•    MS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or related field with 15 years’ experience or a BS in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related field with minimum of 17 years’ experience. 
•    Professional license (e.g., PG, PE, LSS) or ability to obtain within one year of employment is required.
•    A Project Management Professional (PMP) or other widely recognized project management certification is strongly preferred.  
•    40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training are required.
•    Knowledge of Eastern state and federal (CERCLA, RCRA) environmental regulations and guidance is preferred.
•    Must be highly motivated, customer-focused and work well in a team environment. 
•    Strong technical analytical skills and demonstrated excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills are fundamental to this position and are required.
•    Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
•    Current and valid U.S. driver’s license.
•    Must be a United States citizen.
