Project Summary

Tetra Tech provides energy expertise and related technical and investment implementation support to clients in Europe and Eurasia focusing on enhancing the resilience, reliability, affordability, and security of the energy and power generation sectors. Our activities include assignments across the region, that cover technical and economic analyses, feasibility and market studies, sector reform, technical due diligence, tendering, supervision, project implementation support. Our international work involves complex projects and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.

 

Position Summary

Tetra Tech seeks an experienced energy expert to support growth and diversification as well as project-based assignments in the electricity sector across Europe and Eurasia. You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams delivering diverse international projects, with opportunities to contribute to technical leadership, coordinate workstreams, and support team management on complex assignments. Interested candidates must be based in and eligible to work in Germany or remotely in the country of residence in Europe. This position is full-time, and hiring is contingent upon client approval.

Essential Job Functions

  • Advise our current portfolio on energy market design as well as other clients on energy policy, market design, economic regulation, and compliance with local, national, and international energy regulations
  • Develop innovative market design approaches and interact with technical and financial experts to interpret analytics and modelling outcomes
  • Analyze and interpret energy laws, regulations, industry codes and policies, assessing their impact on client operations and market positioning
  • Conduct research on energy market regulation trends, including electricity, gas, renewables, and environmental policies 
  • Develop strategic recommendations to help clients optimize their regulatory compliance and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the energy market
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes, and make sure it is shared to improve our knowledge, consulting services and products. 
  • Actively support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and contributing to the expansion of consulting services
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, including white papers, research reports, and represent the company at industry events and forums

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in economics, engineering or a related field 
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector, in areas such as electricity markets, market design, energy market regulation, energy economics, and/or power systems operation 
  • Solid understanding of the European energy market, and related regulatory framework (energy acquis), as well as energy market design principles and their business, economic and technical implications 
  • Experience in navigating through the regulatory environment of the energy sector and understanding the implications for key stakeholders involved.
  • Strong organization/analytical skills; experience working with detailed technical data and reports 
  • Good writing and communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information and deliver verbal and written messages effectively 
  • Fluency (speaking, listening, writing, reading) in English 
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams 
  • Willingness to travel internationally to project locations and conferences
     

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in working within large teams from diverse backgrounds and skill sets 
  • Experience with the Eastern European, Western Balkans and/or Central Asian energy sector  
  • Experience in working for consulting, government or energy firms, preferably to include MDBs or donors 
  • Oral and written communication skills in French, Russian and/or Ukrainian
     

 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently remain in a stationary position sitting or standing at a desk
  • Occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operate office equipment, such as computer, copy machine, scanner, or printer
  • Constantly communicate information and ideas so others will understand
  • Constantly observe details at close range
     

 

Additional Information

  • Employment type: This is a fulltime position
  • Work schedule: Monday – Friday, standard core business hours (8:30 AM – 5:30 PM local time); some flexibility required but must overlap core business hours for team collaboration and occasionally overlap with United States eastern standard time business hours
