Senior Consultant / Project Manager
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech’s EHS Compliance and ESG Advisory Services department is seeking a Senior Consultant to contribute to Tetra Tech’s leadership in the environmental and sustainability consulting space. We seek a motivated and experienced senior consultant to join our team for a role in client development, project delivery, and team leadership. Approximately 25% of the role is business development, client sales and proposal efforts, and 75% of the role is project management, team leadership and project delivery. Typical projects include sustainability and ESG program implementation, climate resiliency, and environmental regulatory compliance for a variety of clients, primarily in the commercial/industrial sectors.
The individual will be expected to work on various projects in parallel, independently defining project sub-tasks, and performing the tasks in a time-efficient manner in a collaborative team environment. Projects may be site specific, national or global in scope and are likely to focus on emerging environmental sustainability issues and environmental regulatory compliance. The position will also involve building client relationships, supporting new business development activities such as proposal preparation, and assisting with cross-selling opportunities. Technical project duties will involve data analysis, team oversight, review, and client presentation of project work products, technical reports, or environmental regulatory submittals.

Essential Job Functions:
The consultant will manage projects from start to finish, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery of high-quality products aligned with client needs and expectations. An empathetic leader, they will foster collaboration through clear communication with clients and team members.
Be a point of contact for clients and maintain a positive relationship with clients, interacting with Tetra Tech teams and our commercial/industrial clients to collect data and progressively develop solutions and work products for task and project completion and future project development.
Support the work of others and maintain quality control on projects and on administrative tasks.
Work independently to perform project tasks, design, calculations, and reporting to meet the project specific requirements.
Be able to travel for short-duration projects as needed.
Assist with proposals, including the development of technical plans, schedules, and cost estimates, and preparation with staff and with the client.
Develop a robust pipeline of EHS and ESG service projects through independent leads, collaborative pursuits, and cross selling to existing Tetra Tech clients through support to colleagues, helping to develop and support strategic initiatives for continued work with key clients and business sectors and building new relationships through proactive outreach.

Required Qualifications:
BS degree in engineering, geology, or closely related environmental science or studies field.
7+ years of experience in environmental consulting or closely related field.
Understanding of key ESG and EHS frameworks and ability to stay on top of trends.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
Ability to execute and synthesize qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Entrepreneurial mindset with demonstrated ability to generate new business.
Experience managing strategic sustainability initiatives and engaging with senior leadership.
Must be highly organized, disciplined, and able to work collaboratively across a diverse business enterprise.
Experience selling new services to clientele.
Ability to think and act critically and strategically.
Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
Project management experience including establishing budgets, managing project scope in consideration of budget, and project invoicing.
A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
MS degree in engineering, geology, or closely related environmental field.
Business development experience preferred.
Experience with Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions inventory development for industrial companies.
Experience with sustainability reporting.
Ability to take on thought leadership opportunities in the sustainability space, including through conference presentations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift a suitcase when you travel for work. Longest assignments are one week; more typical duration of travel is 2-3 days.
Lift or carry a field PPE bag/backpack weighing up to 10lbs. Infrequent lifting of up to 25lbs.
Ability to walk across variable terrain, including uneven ground, in all weather conditions (slopes up to 2:1 or 3:1 grade, hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, heavy equipment, contaminated media, etc.).
Ability to travel and perform field work/oversight or short-term travel for client meetings (approx. 10-20% of travel required).
Have full range of motion to support field activities.
Requires use of hands for typing, handling materials, and operating office equipment. Vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Office-based tasks will include prolonged periods of time sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer and other office equipment.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
Field work will include work to be performed outside, as a result may include occasional work in various environmental factors (weather, altitude, terrain, noise, contaminated media, etc.). This can include remaining stationary for long periods of time, walking, lifting, bending, and sitting for site assessments, site walks, and other field activities.
Office work will include extended periods sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer.
Additional Information:
Full-time, Monday through Friday work scheduled (40 hours). Occasionally extended hours may be required based on project and/or client needs.
Position is based out of the local Atlanta, GA office. Potential of a hybrid work schedule to be discussed with the direct supervisor, but the candidate must reside within 40 miles of the local Atlanta, GA office. This potential arrangement is subject to review and may change at the company’s discretion.
Work will be performed in an office and field setting.
Target salary range: $75,000 to $100,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
