Tetra Tech’s Hampton Roads office is seeking a Senior Level Engineer/Project Manager to join our Engineering team in Virginia Beach, VA. Responsibilities:  
•    Direct projects to include engineering and environmental services, asset management services, and master planning/land development services. 
o    Engineering services include geotechnical investigations, project design, and construction management.
o    Environmental services include evaluation and management of potential environmental liabilities; site investigation, risk assessment, remediation, and construction management; compliance and permitting; RCRA, CERCLA, CWA and NEPA support; property redevelopment; and communication and negotiation with federal, state and local regulatory agencies.  
•    Coordinate support for municipal and federal projects, water quality modeling, wastewater and/or stormwater master planning, and state environmental requirements for states in the Mid-Atlantic.   
•    Prepare proposals, manage projects, and perform technical work as necessary balancing sales and utilization.
•     Assemble and lead teams to effectively and efficiently complete projects on time and within budget and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. •    Five+ years of technical experience in environmental compliance, planning, civil engineering, asset management, or construction projects.
•    Highly preferred to have “been the client.” Prior experience working for a federal or state agency, or at the municipal level is desired. Civil servant service or active-duty military experience while engaged in project management related to relevant services is highly desired.
•    Personnel with proven leadership and exceptional interpersonal skills will be considered, provided technical/scientific background is established through education.
•    Basic knowledge of surveying and use of topographic data.
•    Design of stormwater management for municipalities and other entities is preferred.
•    Ability to navigate state regulatory approval processes for permitting stormwater and/or wastewater. 
•    Ability to design using AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce grading plans, alignments, profiles, cut-fill volumes, surfaces, pipe networks, etc.
•    PE in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and/or Virginia (or the ability to obtain within 3 months after reaching the registration states experience requirements) is required.
•    Recent experience with the design of sustainable green infrastructure, including subsurface storage and infiltration, bioretention basins, bioswales, green streets, and constructed wetlands.
•    Act as Project Manager in multi-disciplined projects in the preparation of construction drawings, details, specifications, calculations, and engineers' estimates of probable construction costs.  
•    Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Education & Experience:  
•    Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, or a related engineering discipline.
•    A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in land development, water resources, and/or utility design projects.
•    Current registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) is required. Professional Engineer (PE) is desired.
•    Current certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is desired.
•     Advanced degree (e.g., MS, PhD) may account for 1-2 years of experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities: (if applicable) Candidate may supervise other engineers and/or design technicians assigned to projects. Candidate may supervise and direct field, drafting, and design personnel. The direct management of engineering projects is required.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.  The physical demands of this position are limited to office work and some fieldwork.  Field work may include walking over uneven or rough terrain, some lifting, and safely managing exposure to a range of temperatures and possible wet weather.  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to safely work in the field.  

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level is usually moderate in the primary work environment i.e., a typical business office with computers, printers, and light pedestrian traffic. When performing field work, the employee may be near moving equipment and/or machinery and may be subject to a range of weather conditions in those areas. Occasionally, work assignments will require the employee to travel via vehicle or air.

Language & Communication Skills: 
•    Must be fluent in the English language – writing, reading, and speaking.
•    Must have a high level of written and oral communication skills and the ability to work and collaborate with employees at all levels and disciplines.  
•    Successful candidate must possess effective communication skills, both orally and in written form. 
•    Ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions.  
•    Ability to read, research, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents and procedures, and government regulations.  

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, Algebra (preferred)

Other Skills: The candidate must have the ability to work well in a professional and team-oriented environment, as well as independently. Candidate should possess strong organizational skills, excellent leadership skills, and be client focused. Must possess basic computer skills; the computer skills must include proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel. Must be proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and Revit.  GIS experience is a plus.

Candidate must have the ability to work well in a professional and team-oriented environment, as well as independently. Candidate should possess strong organizational skills, excellent leadership skills, and be client-focused.
