Tetra Tech is seeking full-time Energy Efficiency Professionals / Energy Engineers interested in working on site as a Resource Efficiency Manager (REM) for the U.S. Coast Guard. Join the REM team of seven Tetra Tech professionals assisting the USCG in pursuit of goals that include 100% carbon free electricity by 2030, 100% zero-emissions vehicle fleet by 2045, and net-zero buildings by 2050. These goals are realized as REMs identify opportunities for efficiency and transition facilities from carbon-based fuels to electrified systems supported by on-site renewable energy and storage. Your Role:
Tetra Tech has been providing REM services to the U.S. Coast Guard since 2011. Your energy expertise will be integrated into the full AE services within the Coast Guard's engineering and design offices. Each REM provides comprehensive energy management, efficiency, and resilience services. As the REM, you will be the first resource for facility energy needs, ranging from utility consumption data and generating EUIs to energy efficiency integration into major renovations, carbon free mechanical designs in new construction, and rapid response for casualty repair. Travel will be required about 25 percent of the time.
You will identify energy conservation opportunities and help facilitate the implementation of projects, initiatives, and programs that reduce energy consumption and demand, increase energy security and resilience, save money, and help the environment. The Coast Guard sites range from a remote small boat station with an 8,000 square foot building to large bases up to 2M square feet with district heating and cooling. You will augment existing customer capabilities, working with both the customer and Tetra Tech in a team framework as an action agent to facilitate energy and cost savings as you help move the Coast Guard forward in reaching its federal energy and water goals.
Responsibilities:
Primary duties focus on energy management, including program management services, but work also includes:
- Developing energy efficiency improvements for facilities
- Walking facilities daily to conduct energy audits, identify energy conservation opportunities, and develop projects
- Developing distributed generation opportunities
- Developing renewable energy projects
- Providing energy training
- Performing design reviews
- Analyzing energy/utility data
- Supporting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and conducting Sustainable Federal Building Assessments
- Recommending improvements to energy and utility procurement
- Recommending operations and maintenance improvements
- Analyzing energy and water resilience vulnerabilities
- Identifying and developing energy and water resilience projects
- Working collaboratively to achieve results
- Writing technical sound audit and other reports
- Supporting construction of energy projects
- Working both independently and collaboratively with the USCG client and partner REMs
- Other related duties

Tetra Tech is seeking to build relationships with REM candidates for current and future opportunities and positions.
You are required to have 5 plus years of experience in energy management or energy engineering. Strong HVAC background and experience with energy auditing, project development, life-cycle cost analysis, direct digital controls, commissioning, and building/system optimization is highly desired. Previous experience working at federal facilities, especially Coast Guard, is a plus.
The positions require:
- Knowledge of utility information systems, energy management technologies, and metering
- Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, and work with all team members in a conscientious and inclusive way
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to produce results
- Ability to produce technically correct finished work, including technical reports, white papers, metrics, and briefs
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Teams and the use of spreadsheets, especially MS Excel and other database applications
Tetra Tech is seeking candidates with a BS in engineering or energy-related field, but military or civilian experience working at federal installations, or experience in energy-related field may be acceptable.
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) designation is required or must be able to obtain. Additional years of experience are required if no current certification.
U.S. citizenship is required, and you must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Work Environment:
The work environment consists of an office environment, as well as frequent field visits in and around various client facility sites. You must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of sedentary work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree, such as walking 2 to 3 miles in a day. You must be able to climb ladders, access roofs, and access narrow mechanical rooms.

The Salary Range for these positions are $90,000 - $125,000 depending on education, experience, skills, and location. Tetra Tech offers a basic core medical plan and our 401k retirement plan for these positions.
