Project Summary:
The purpose of Afghanistan Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity (AMELA) is to provide monitoring, evaluation, and learning support services/assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan, and to build the technical monitoring and evaluation (M&E) knowledge and skills of USAID/Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID/Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes.

Position Summary:
The Researcher will assist with data collection, including conducting interviews and identifying potential respondents for the Supporting Student Success in Afghanistan Activity (SSSA) under the oversight of the AMELA technical team and the direction of the Team Lead. The Researcher will help the team achieve the SSSA goal of sustaining access to and improving retention of local quality higher education opportunities for students living in Afghanistan. The Researcher will also help with data evaluation as needed. This position's estimated level of effort is up to 22 days.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in data collection, including conducting key informant interviews and group discussions.
- Assist the Team Lead with drafting deliverables and analytical products as required from USAID.
- Participate in presentations if needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum three years of experience conducting research in the social science field is required.
- Experience conducting key informant interviews (KIIs) preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Afghanistan's local languages, such as Dari and Pashto, are required.
