The program

Australia Awards Indonesia (AAI) is managed by Tetra Tech on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Australia Awards is an integral part of Australia's development cooperation program with Indonesia and has enjoyed strong support from both governments for more than sixty years. Australia Awards addresses two key challenges: to fill a gap in the pool of individuals with the higher-level capacity to contribute to Indonesia's development; and the need for a strong deep relationship based on mutual understanding between Australia and Indonesia.


The role

The Recruitment and Selection Manager leads Australia Awards Indonesia’s end-to-end scholarship recruitment and selection, ensuring transparent, equitable and policy-compliant processes from intake to final selection. The role provides authoritative oversight of eligibility checks, screening, shortlisting and Joint Selection Team coordination, while liaising with DFAT, Government of Indonesia counterparts, universities and partners to align outcomes with bilateral priorities and development needs. Responsible for selection documentation, logistics, scholar communications and analysis of selection data, the Manager drives continuous improvement and safeguards the integrity of the selection process under high scrutiny and tight timelines.


Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end management of scholarship intake, screening, shortlisting, JST assessments and final selection
  • Ensure processes comply with Australia Awards policies and DFAT requirements
  • Oversee eligibility checks, documentation, logistics and selection reporting
  • Liaise with DFAT, GoI ministries, universities and partners on selection priorities
  • Supervise data management and analysis of selection outcomes with MEL and Inclusion teams
  • Manage scholar communications during recruitment and selection phases

 
Selection criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in education, public administration, international relations, development or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end recruitment/selection in scholarship or competitive programs
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong statistical knowledge for data processing and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in utilising SaaS applications, specifically for the management of online forms and digital platforms.
  • Skilled in applying policy to ensure fairness, transparency and compliance
  • Experience coordinating selection panels, interviews, logistics and formal reporting
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting selection data and informing improvements
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills; confident engaging DFAT, GoI and senior stakeholders
