Your Role: 

The Project Surveyor will support surveying/mapping, GIS, and Civil Engineering activities. Typical projects range in scope from site development, roadway and utility designs to industrial and military facilities including master planning. 

  • Collect survey data as required in accordance with industry and client specifications, scopes of work, work plans and directed by Survey Manager; 
  • Willing and able to continually learn new techniques and processes as well as operate various types of equipment to become more efficient; 
  • Provide technical assistance for CADD operators, design staff as to what the project looks like in the field and coordinate site visits with project team personnel; 
  • Work within a project team environment under the direction of a project manager and coordinate with project engineers and other designers to ensure project deliverables meet all necessary standards; 
  • Perform survey office work such as mapping and along with and under the direction of a licensed land surveyor      
  • Act as the Survey Party Chief, direct a survey assistant or other members of the survey crew and ensure efficiency and safety requirements are met in the field.
  • You will be trained to operate as a survey field tech performing topographic, boundary, and GPS control surveys. 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred;
  • College Level Coursework in Civil Engineering or Land Surveying highly desirable.
  • LSIT registration in the State of California (or ability to obtain within 6 months) is desirable; 
  • Minimum 2-5 years of field surveying and/or AutoCAD Civil 3d experience; 
  • Valid California State Driver’s License; 
  • Previous or current survey related coursework a plus; 
  • Background will ideally include civil engineering project work and knowledge of municipal and state projects; 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Autodesk related products required; 
  • Familiarity with Microstation, word processing and scheduling programs a plus; 
  • Knowledge of survey data collection methods and data processing
  • Familiarity and interest in emerging technology such as Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) surveys and laser scanning are desirable.     

 

Physical Requirements:

  • This position may require protracted or irregular hours depending on the season. 
  • Traverse over rough terrain, and constantly position self to operate miscellaneous survey equipment. 
  • Occasionally ascend/descend ladders into trenches or onto roofs when inspecting construction and land development sites. 
  • May be subject to exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions, hazardous materials and chemicals, heavy construction equipment, confined spaces, heights, and air and waterborne pathogens. 
  • May handle and move items up to 50 lbs for various needs.  
  • This position could require periodic travel, approximately 15% or more

 

Salary Range: $73,000-$100,000, depending on experience and certifications
