Project Finance Assistant
Purpose & Scope of the Role
As part of a team of five Project Finance Assistants and two Supervisors, reporting to the Project Finance Manager, you will support project set-up, sales invoicing and ongoing project maintenance through a shared email hub. Working on the TLX Oracle-based system, you will help ensure project and financial information is accurate, compliant with delegated authority and risk policies, and maintained to a high standard.
Your Impact in this position
Your work will support accurate invoicing and revenue recognition, helping the business meet financial targets and deadlines. You will create and maintain revenue and cost-to-complete budgets, process invoices, complete reconciliations and monthly data checks, maintain client credit scores and invoice instructions, and support credit note and customer queries. You will also assist with intercompany projects, supplier questionnaires, client or discipline-specific requirements and ad hoc reporting.
5 Core Capabilities
- Project set-up and system management: Complete project set-ups on TLX Oracle, verify information and maintain accurate project records in line with business policies and risk requirements.
- Invoicing and revenue recognition: Raise and expedite accurate invoices through email, telephone and Teams, ensuring invoicing and revenue recognition targets are achieved within agreed deadlines.
- Budget and financial control: Build and amend revenue and cost-to-complete budgets, while understanding, discussing and constructively challenging fee amendments, budget changes and invoice queries.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Develop trusted working relationships with Project Managers, Project Directors, Accounts Receivable and colleagues across Tetra Tech, acting as a key contact for project finance support.
- Data quality and reporting: Complete monthly checks, reconciliations and maintenance activities, produce reports as required and support accurate, continually updated financial and client data.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
You will bring experience in a comparable finance role, ideally within a project-based environment. Strong organisation, prioritisation, accuracy and communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including look-ups and pivot tables, is required. Experience of project accounting and revenue recognition would be advantageous.
Working Environment
Ideally based in Leeds, this role follows a hybrid pattern of three days in the office and two days working from home, with flexible working arrangements available to meet business needs.
