Project Engineer- Water/Wastewater

Our Georgia Water Group, serving Atlanta, is looking for a Project Engineer-Waste/Wastewater to join our growing team. Successful candidates for these opportunities will be responsible for providing technical engineering analysis and design for a variety of infrastructure-related projects, primarily involving the design of water/wastewater treatment facilities, water distribution systems, pipelines, pump stations, and wastewater collection systems. The ideal candidate will be ready to be a part of and grow with a team and have an interest in technical design. Mentoring of more junior staff is expected, along with a desire to learn and grow from more senior engineers and project managers. This position is based in Atlanta, GA and may have a hybrid work schedule.
Your Role:
- Perform engineering design with a focus on water related infrastructure and other water resource facilities.
- Conduct site investigations and inspections, delivering detailed assessment reports.
- Generate design calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Evaluate alternatives, resolve technical issues and interface with other engineering disciplines.
- Coordinate projects with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Assist with the execution of projects from conceptual planning phases through permitting, and development of final plans, specifications, and estimate bid packages.
- Provide technical design support for infrastructure related projects for water distribution, water and wastewater treatment and sanitary sewer collection systems.
- Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects.
- Provide construction support services such as bid evaluations, plan clarifications, review shop drawings, review monthly progress reports and evaluate change order requests.
- Perform engineering interpretation of specifications and drawings, recommending and documenting design modifications, and coordinating with the design team.
- Make independent assessment of engineering problems and recommend solutions to engineering discipline leads, resolve questions, plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost effective and compliant manner.
- Manage and mentor junior technical staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resource Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
- 3-8 years of experience required.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil or Environmental Engineering, registered in Georgia or ability to obtain licensure in Georgia within 6 months.
- Strong communication, report writing, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and industry standards.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software, AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit is desired.
- Experience in municipal infrastructure design and permitting.
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (to include Word, Excel, Project) required.
- This position could require periodic travel, approximately 15% or more
