Mekong-Australia Partnership Support Unit (MAP)

The objective of the Mekong-Australia Partnership Support Unit (MAP SU) is to provide efficient and effective support and enabling services, and delivery of selected Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP) activities as directed by the Mekong Hub at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand to ensure that Australia is a trusted and reliable partner in supporting a resilient, inclusive and sustainable Mekong subregion. The Support Unit will deliver the Leadership and Skills (L&S) program and enabling services for the Transnational Crime program. It will also support programming by providing administrative, logistical and/or technical support and assistance in the execution of parts of MAP such as organising events, conducting training or managing specific components of program delivery.


The opportunity

The Program Officer supports the delivery of the Australia Awards Mekong-Australia Partnership (AAMAP) Scholarships, with a primary focus on Thailand and support across the Mekong region. Working closely with the Awards Manager, the role is responsible for coordinating scholarship administration, managing applicant and scholar communications, supporting selection and mobilisation processes, maintaining accurate records, and liaising with a range of stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of a high-quality scholarship program.


Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate the administration and delivery of the Australia Awards Mekong-Australia Partnership (AAMAP) Scholarships.
  • Manage and respond to scholarship enquiries from applicants, awardees, and scholars.
  • Support end-to-end scholarship application and selection processes, including eligibility checking and interview coordination.
  • Maintain accurate scholarship records, databases, and program documentation.
  • Coordinate data management and document verification in OASIS and program filing systems.
  • Support scholar mobilisation, including travel, visa, medical, and pre-departure arrangements.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of scholarship events, briefings, and outreach activities.
  • Liaise with scholars, alumni, partners, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Support inclusive program delivery, including reasonable adjustments for scholars with disability.
  • Ensure activities comply with DFAT and program requirements, including safeguarding, gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion standards.


About You

  • Degree qualification in project management, international development, education, human resources, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in project coordination, administration, or support role, preferably within an international development or donor-funded environment.
  • Strong administration and organisational skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple activities, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Thai and English.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records, databases, and program documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital platforms, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to gender equality, disability inclusion, safeguarding, and PSEAH principles.
  • A proactive, collaborative, and professional approach, with the ability to exercise initiative and contribute positively to a team environment.
