Principal Pyrometallurgical Engineer
Education and Work Experience:
• A University degree in extractive metallurgy, chemical engineering or related discipline. A MSc or PhD would be a recommendation.
• A minimum 5 years operational experience and 5 years in management of engineering technical support services or working within a mining consultancy. 15+ years of total experience is preferred.
• Professional engineering accreditation with an internationally recognized engineering institute or association: PE, PEng, CEng or equivalent.
• QP (qualified person, NI 43-101) or CP (competent person, JORC) status (or meet the requirements of such).
• Experience working in heavy industrial environments required. This position does require field verifications in heavy industrial facilities.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Base metals, precious metals, ferro-alloy, and bulk mineral commodities.
• Mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, pyrometallurgy, and refining operations.
• Mass, energy, and water balances.
• Process simulation and control.
• Proficiency with metallurgical modeling software such as LimN, MetSim, JKSimMet, SysCAD, or Oli-IDEAS.
• Detailed design and specification of process equipment and unit processes.
• Process and engineering cost estimation.
• Process scheduling and budgeting.
• Financial modeling.
• OoM, Prefeasibility, Feasibility, and technical studies.
• Graduate engineer mentoring and development
• Technical authorship and presentation skills
