Pipeline Project Engineer

Your Role:
Pipeline Project Engineers are tasked with managing all aspects of a project(s) from conception to completion. The daily responsibilities include performing technical calculations and pipeline engineering tasks, client interaction, team coordination, overall communication, and reporting of scope, schedule, and budget expectations internally to the project team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed project scope documents, design basis, project execution plan for projects.
- Design pigging facilities and associated equipment, develop piping specifications, make material selections, coordinate alignment sheet generation, assess different options of horizontal drills, coordinate HDD plans and profiles, support permitting efforts, and have a working knowledge of corrosion control of pipelines.
- Performs pipeline calculations for design, studies and reports.
- Integrates all disciplines (engineering, design, procurement, document control, project controls, construction, and QA/QC) to ensure the project is aligned technically and commercially.
- Ensure Client and technical requirements are properly incorporated in the engineering deliverables.
- Report to the Project Manager on budget and schedule for engineering tasks.
- Support business development and marketing initiatives.
- Collaborates with Project Controls on project administration (scheduling, estimating, cost management, staffing, schedule management, etc.) so that project resources are optimized, and project metrics are met.
- Works with document control to maintain accurate and current project documentation.
- Participates in technical reviews to ensure detailed engineering meets engineering standards. Lead and participate in periodic project status meetings with the client.
- Lead and participate in typical design development meetings including, but not limited to constructability reviews, 3D model reviews, process hazard analysis sessions, and engineering alignment sessions.
- Provide liaison services between engineering and construction.
- Attend bid meetings or bid walks for the major construction contracts on the assigned projects.
- Provide bid review and scope compliance analysis of the contractor proposals.
- Coordinate engineering assessment of field requests on construction packages.
- Coordination to obtain survey, geotechnical investigations, permitting, land acquisition.
- Uses and promotes the use of existing design data to standardize design efforts from one job to the next.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience, 4 years in a similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil or other related Engineering field.
- PE Registration is preferred but not required.
- Strong background in mechanical design of pipelines, hydraulic modeling, stress analysis, HDD design, and material selection.
- Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and regulations (CFR DOT 192, CFR DOT 195, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4 and ASME B31.8).
- Demonstrate qualified knowledge in coordinating workflow and can work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, designers, and sub-contractors.
- Ability to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Risk management and problem-solving skills to address challenges as they arise during projects.
- Knowledge of project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Follow all company, client, safety and regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
Target Salary Range: $114,400 to $145,600. Please note that Tetra Tech considers numerous factors in determining pay, including but not limited to education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business
Physical Requirements:
- Constantly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms.
- Constantly use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, or manipulate objects.
- Light work that includes lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and, occasionally, up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
- Requires composure and ability to prioritize and manage several urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a prominent level of competence and accuracy.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
Environmental factors mostly consist of work being conducted in an indoor office environment, but are not limited to extreme temperatures (e.g., cold, heat), fumes, variable weather conditions, outdoor work, and noise due to some travel & work on worksites.
