The Program:

Australia Assists is an Australian Government program that deploys skilled humanitarian specialists to support multilateral agencies, governments, civil society and communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and conflict. Australia Assists’ Goal is to: Save lives, alleviate suffering, and maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of conflict, disasters and other humanitarian crises, and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations. The program’s Objective is: Targeted deployment of humanitarian expertise that meets the priorities and needs of Australia's multilateral, bilateral and civil society partners and advances Australia's international humanitarian priorities.

The Role:

The Partnerships Support Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Australia Assists program in achieving its objectives by ensuring high-quality results and sustainable impact. Reporting to the Partnerships Lead, this role will assist in reviewing existing program partnerships and contribute to the development and implementation of an expanded Partnership Strategy. This includes helping to prioritize new partnership opportunities and approaches that align with program goals. In addition, the role will also collaborate with internal teams to proactively identify and manage risks while ensuring the effective integration of Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Climate Change, and Localisation priorities across program activities...

Key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Partnerships Lead and technical teams to ensure program activities are well-coordinated, aligned, and create synergies.
  • Collect qualitative data through case studies, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions to support Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and communication efforts.
  • Assist the MEL team with coding and analysis of qualitative data using Nvivo software.
  • Support data collection through surveys and feedback from Host Organisations, deployees, and DFAT Posts.
  • Contribute to the development of analyses, strategies, and workplans for capacity-strengthening initiatives with Partner Organisations.
  • Provide logistical and operational support for consultation and design workshops.
  • Conduct check-ins with deployees and Host Organisations to monitor the implementation of Capacity Strengthening Plans.
  • Gather and create high-impact content, including interviews, transcriptions, case studies, and social media content, to showcase the impact of Australia Assists.
  • Assist in managing and updating Australia Assists’ external channels, including social media and the website, and track their performance.
  • Support the planning and execution of key public diplomacy events and engagements in collaboration with the Communications and Public Diplomacy Manager.
  • Assist in drafting reports as required.
  • Maintain the Relationship Management System to track partnerships and engagements.
  • Perform other duties related to the program as requested by the Partnerships Lead and Program Lead.

Selection criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Humanitarian Assistance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in building and maintaining strong professional relationships with government, community stakeholders, and partner organisations.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to engage across diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners.
  • Experience in administration, program management, and maintaining quality systems and records management.
  • Demonstrated cultural knowledge and sensitivity, with the ability to integrate Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Climate Change, and Localisation priorities into program activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant digital tools.
  • Analytical and systematic approach to report writing and data interpretation.
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts effectively.
  • Commitment to teamwork and shared success, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
