We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer who will lead and grow our enthusiastic team of engineers and scientists to create unprecedented solutions to pressing issues across Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, as well as aid other global project teams. This position is based in our Seattle office which focuses on flood risk management, river, lake and coastal environmental restoration, storm water management, hydropower and other water resource related planning, engineering, and design consulting services.  You will be part of the management team and will have the opportunity to coordinate with other Tetra Tech offices across the US and overseas.
 
The Tetra Tech Seattle office has participated in thousands of multi-purpose water resource projects for clients such as the USACE Seattle/Walla Walla/Portland/Seattle/Honolulu Districts, Seattle DOT, WSDOT, ODOT, Seattle City Light, King/Snohomish/Pierce/Kitsap counties, EPA, NRCS, The Nature Conservancy, and many others.  
 
Award winning and highly visible projects include:
Feasibility Study and 35% design of the Elliott Bay Seawall Replacement Project
Goldsborough Dam removal (first in USACE history) 
Hundreds of miles of levee inspections,
90 fish passage culvert replacement and stream restoration projects
Over 100 lake restoration projects,
Several climate change induced Alaska village relocation and coastal protection projects
Multiple dam inspection and harbor dredging projects in Hawaii
FERC relicensing of Boundary Dam (WA)
Extensive evaluation of the Susitna Hydropower Dam (AK)
Design of Mud Mountain Dam Fish Passage project (largest in the nation) 
Green River woody debris and gravel renourishment projects for salmon recovery

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Lead and support business development and strategic planning efforts to increase market share in priority markets, including federal, state and local clients.
  • Supervise and direct staff to ensure optimal productivity, positive motivation, training, and employee recognition.
  • Recruit/hire staff and direct project staffing assignments to meet client, contract, and company business objectives.
  • Empower employees and foster values of respect, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Act as client manager for select clients in the water resources industry.
  • Act as program/project manager and/or provide senior level technical roles for select projects and programs in the area of planning, analysis, engineering and/or design associated with flood risk management environmental restoration, and other related surface water resources management projects.
  • Support financial, project management, backlog, and utilization reporting requirements for the Seattle water resources team.
  • Support company risk management program
  • Support Northwest Region Operations Manager to ensure group performance and goals are consistent with and in support of strategic plans.
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet specified performance goals for the Northwest water resources team.
  • Promote a safety conscious work environment.
 
You Will Bring:
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of client engagement and project capture planning, backed by a strong reputation with public agencies and non-profits organizations for success driven water resource consulting services.
  • BS in engineering with a minimum of 15 years relevant experience in the water resources industry and a WA PE required.
  • Regional client management experience and relationships with municipalities, counties, state and federal agencies, tribes and non-profits. USACE, Counties (Kitsap, King, Pierce, Snohomish) and WSDOT experience a plus.
  • Water resources project design experience with municipalities, counties, and state agencies. King County and WSDOT experience a plus.
  • Experience with risk management oversight
  • Knowledge of project management, resources allocation, utilization, and cost control
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with the ability to engage and motivate others
  • Good reasoning, conflict management, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledge in financial reporting and forecasting preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
