Working with Tetra Tech’s outstanding Offshore Wind, Onshore Renewables, and Environmental Permitting groups, our growing Visual Resources team supports clients in the power generation, electrical transmission, and other energy-related sectors.

 

Tetra Tech’s Visual Resources Team supports the current energy transition by visually communicating where and how proposed essential infrastructure would be incorporated into our landscapes. Our standard services include impact assessment, photo-realistic simulations, perspective renderings, graphic design, and viewshed analyses. These tools provide a platform by which our clients engage with stakeholders to discuss the visual character of their projects and their potential effects. Tetra Tech identifies visualization as an area of excellence; our specialists investigate new technologies, are preparing to implement advanced visualizations (immersive and real-time) and incorporate artificial intelligence into project simulations and modeling.

 

We are currently seeking an Offshore Wind Visual Resources Specialist to lead the Seascape, Landscape, and Visual Impact Assessment (SLVIA) work required to support the ongoing development of offshore wind power in the United States. With projects underway on both coasts, our portfolio of work and record of helping clients successfully obtain permits are growing. This position will report to the Visual Resources Discipline Lead and can be geographically located anywhere within the United States, either as a remote employee or hybrid role based on proximity to a Tetra Tech office.

 

Technical:

·         Lead, manage, and contribute to production of standalone SLVIA documents, including but not limited to:

o   Serving as lead author for technical documents.

o   Effective communication and coordination with project leadership, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.

o   Collaboration with in-house visualization, GIS, and Geomatics specialists on resource and data inventories, site photography, production of legally defensible visual simulations / other visualizations (e.g., video simulations, time-lapse imagery, line-of-sight illustrations, and/or analytical infographics), and development of approaches to project mitigation; oversight of visual task strategy and administration.

o   And presentation as a Visual Impact Assessment Subject Matter Expert in evidentiary hearings, when necessary.

·         Work with Tetra Tech’s Visual Resources Discipline Lead and other SLVIA authors to establish Tetra Tech as a recognized leader in SLVIA and associated offshore wind work.

·         Contribute to project proposals and other business development as it relates to offshore wind energy and visual resources, including development of scopes and budgets, subject matter expertise, and demonstration of company experience.

·         As workload allows, provide support of visual impact assessment work for various applications to federal, state, or local agencies, including stand-alone technical reports / memos, environmental document or permit application sections, Critical Issues Analysis reports, and / or Siting & Routing studies.

·         Travel to project locations and meetings, representing Tetra Tech’s Visual Resources Practice and conducting on-site data collection / assessment, as necessary.

·         Coordinate with other Tetra Tech Impact Assessment Leads as they intersect with visual impacts such as glare and shadow flicker studies.

 

Strategy Business Development:

·         Support proposal and cost development efforts, potentially across multiple Tetra Tech Operations.

·         Support strategic pursuits, review, and respond to RFI’s, RFP’s and RFQ’s.

·         Support strategic growth initiatives to expand and diversify Tetra Tech’s visual resources offerings.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Degree in landscape architecture, planning, environmental studies, or closely related field.

·         At least 5 years of demonstrated work experience producing visual impact assessments, with specific experience with SLVIA documents, along with assessments following Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and/or other established methodologies.

·         Demonstrated technical writing abilities, organizational skills, and analytical inquisitiveness; this is a fast-paced consulting environment and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is essential.

·         Demonstrated experience to defend and articulate method / approach and conclusions.

·         Competency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud desired. 

·         Demonstrated experience leading and managing competing priorities, coordinating / collaborating effectively with others and working both independently and within a team are important characteristics for this position.

·         Strong business acumen with an aptitude for client satisfaction and team retention.

·         Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 10-15% of time.

·         A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

·         Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Compensation:

Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000 yr.

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
