Noise Consultant
Purpose & Scope of the Role
Bring your technical acoustics expertise to projects that shape how people live, work and interact with their environment.
Join our Noise and Acoustics team and work across an exciting portfolio spanning residential, healthcare, education, retail, commercial and sustainable energy developments, including battery storage and solar farms. You’ll support high-profile clients including the UK MoD, major retailers, local authorities and infrastructure developers, with opportunities to contribute to landmark projects in the UK and across Europe.
Your work will cover building acoustics, environmental noise and vibration assessments, mitigation design, Environmental Statements and planning condition discharge.
Your Impact in this Position
You’ll take ownership of technical delivery, helping projects move efficiently from initial assessment through to successful completion. Working directly with clients and multidisciplinary colleagues, you’ll provide clear, commercially focused acoustics advice while maintaining high technical standards.
You’ll also contribute to proposals, tenders and business development, manage project finances and deadlines, and support the continued growth of our Noise and Acoustics capability. Collaboration is central to the role, including opportunities to work with specialists across Tetra Tech and sister companies including RPS and Hoare Lea.
Core Capabilities
Technical Expertise
- Apply your knowledge of noise and vibration regulations, policy and guidance to deliver robust technical solutions.
- Undertake calculations, modelling, surveys and assessments using relevant software, sound level meters and vibration monitoring equipment.
Project Delivery
- Manage projects, programmes, budgets, invoicing, costing and equipment procurement while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
Technical Communication
- Produce high-quality technical reports, fee proposals and tenders, translating complex acoustics issues into clear, practical advice for clients.
Collaboration & Communication
- Build effective relationships with clients and multidisciplinary colleagues, communicating confidently both verbally and in writing.
Commercial & Team Growth
- Identify opportunities, support business development and contribute to growing the team while promoting a strong culture of security, health and safety.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
You’ll ideally hold a degree in Acoustics or a related discipline such as Physics or Audio Technology, with around one to two years’ consultancy experience. Institute of Acoustics membership is advantageous. A full driving licence and flexibility to travel are also desirable.
