Position Summary:
We are seeking a mid-level Environmental Scientist/Biologist to provide support on various environmental projects throughout southern and mid-west regions of the US. Candidates must be highly motivated and work well in a professional field and team-oriented environment. Candidate must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, and possess strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency with MS Office applications is required.
Essential Job Functions:
Tetra Tech is seeking a Mid-level Environmental Scientist/Biologist with strong technical writing skills to join our Houston, Texas team to provide support on various environmental projects throughout the southern and mid-west regions of the US. Duties will include:
Prepare environmental permits, technical reports, environmental assessments, impact analyses, regulatory submittals, and agency correspondence.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams in conducting resource analyses and studies.
Support permitting for large and small energy projects, including linear pipelines, transmission and distribution lines, solar, and power plants.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies regarding potential impacts to threatened and endangered species and other environmental resources.
Assist with the development and implementation of environmental protection plans, stormwater pollution prevention plans, spill prevention procedures, erosion and sediment control plans, restoration plans, and other compliance documents.
Candidates must have a good understanding of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking, a flexible approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills and attention to detail.
Participate in field visits, agency meetings, and project meetings as required.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable environmental regulations, industry standards, agency guidance, and best management practices.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any of the multi-disciplined sciences including biology, forestry, wildlife, natural resource management, environmental planning, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel required.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate technical reports, permit materials, field documentation, and correspondence.
- Strong task management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with remote team members.
- A pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in environmental consulting and permitting is preferred.
- ArcGIS experience is a plus.
- Fulcrum or similar data collection methods a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform office and occasional fieldwork, which may include walking, standing, or lifting light materials.
- Must be able to travel occasionally for client meetings or field site visits.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
- Office, hybrid, or remote work arrangements available.
- May include occasional travel to project sites or client offices.
- Standard office safety and ergonomic conditions apply.
Additional Information
- This is a full-time position.
- Normal working hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
