Marine Biologist – Boston, MA
Minimum of B.S. degree in marine science, fisheries, or natural resource field
1-3 years conducting boat-based marine surveys; may include seasonal positions or internships as relevant experience
Familiarity with methods used to interpret benthic habitat features from high-resolution geophysical (HRG) survey data (e.g., multibeam, side scan sonar, etc.) and other underwater imagery (images collected from drop-cameras and towed-video)
Basic understanding of marine spatial planning, Essential Fish Habitat (EFH), Coastal and Marine Ecological Classification Standard (CMECS), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) offshore wind survey recommendations
Ability to utilize a taxonomic key and identify common marine, estuarine, and freshwater fish species in the northeastern U.S.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and manage a suite of sampling gear aboard vessels, including logistics during mobilization/demobilization
Flexibility to accommodate frequent travel and work intermittently and extended hours during the field season to meet fast-paced project requirements
High level of motivation and an ability to work independently and as part of a team
Possess good communication skills and demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and ArcGIS
Must be multi-task oriented and possess excellent problem-solving skills
A valid Driver’s License, clean driving record, and a dependable personal means of transportation are required
Employee is expected to maintain a professional manner in all aspects of their work
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training a plus
