Local Project Director - Guatemala
Essential KSA's Required (experience, skills, education, certification, etc.):
- Master’s degree in international development, management, business administration, natural resources, or related field, or bachelor’s degree with an additional 15 years of relevant work experience in the energy sector, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in the region managing and implementing donor-funded international development projects totaling at least $10 million, as well as at least 5 years of experience in rural electrification issues in Guatemala and/or Central America, as well as building partnerships with the private sector are required.
- Supervisory experience in the international development industry, specifically with long-term field staff and short-term U.S., third country, and local experts
- Ability to establish solid working relationships with high-level/senior government officials, the private sector, and civil society
- Excellent decision-making, leadership/management, communication, and interpersonal skills; as well as strong strategic thinking, administrative, and organizational abilities
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Proven experience implementing donor-funded projects, including adhering to project timelines and producing quality deliverables, under rigorous monitoring and evaluation systems
- Excellent leadership skills including strategic thinking, decision-making, oral and written communications, ability to motivate and collaborate with others to achieve team goals
- Fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing and presentation skills)
- Experience and knowledge of USAID regulations and procedures
Valued but not required KSA's:
- Understanding of enabling environment activities in the energy sector for a conducive private sector-driven ecosystem
- Experience in project implementation and community engagement activities for rural electrification projects
- Prior experience working on technology development or with start-ups who serve low-income or Base of the Pyramid customers
- Knowledge of economic analysis, including social investment and profitability, in productive uses of electricity projects
- Prior experience implementing social impact projects and managing conflict in communities
- Experience adopting a gender, equity and social inclusion perspective (GESI) in rural electrification projects
- Previous experience in a key personnel role under USAID projects
Line management responsibility:
- Supervises all key personnel and subcontractors

- Regional travel will be required
