Lead Disaster Case Advocate (Sioux)
The Tetra Tech Disaster Recovery Team is seeking a dedicated Disaster Case Manager Lead to support relief efforts in Iowa following recent disaster events. This role involves providing leadership to case management staff and serve disaster victims, assisting them with recovery, and coordinating access to various assistance programs, including FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program (IHP) and Direct Housing Program. The ideal candidate will have strong social work experience, case management skills, and a thorough understanding of FEMA policies and procedures.
Work Location: In-Office 100%
Key Responsibilities:
· Providing leadership and coordinating all activities involved with Disaster Case Management.
· Overseeing the daily work tasks of all Disaster Caseworkers, Administrative Assistant, including the assignment of referrals, monitoring of casework progress, and acting as a resource to all Disaster Caseworkers and participating partner agencies. Assist applicants in navigating and applying for FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program (IHP) and Direct Housing Program, ensuring they understand the process and meet eligibility requirements.
· Preparing weekly programmatic progress reports to present to the DCM Program Manager.
· Assist in the development and implementation of documentation standards and best practices to ensure consistency within the program.
· Provide training support to Program Manager and lead discussions on DCM program procedures, and program policies as needed.
· Attending meetings with the DCM Program Manager with community members and partner agencies. Answer phone calls, provide guidance, and direct clients to suitable assistance programs.
· Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations, to facilitate resource access and service delivery.
· Maintain accurate and confidential case files and documentation in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
· Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with disaster response and recovery strategies, including FEMA policies and procedures.
· Identifying best practices to ensure the highest level of service and assistance is provided to affected communities with attention to minimizing or eliminating duplication of services.
· Must be able to travel up to 50 miles to job locations. (Mileage is reimbursed).
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, economics, social work, or related field or an Associate’s degree in a related field along with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
· A minimum of two (2) years of experience in publicly facing case management.
· Specific knowledge of FEMA’s Disaster Case Management framework.
· Knowledge of 2 CFR 200, 44 CFR, and the Stafford Act.
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
· Must have technical skills in analysis, and business accounting principles.
· Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are required; must use your own vehicle.
· Ability to work on-site in Iowa and travel to various shelter locations during operating hours.
· Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
· Knowledge of social services resources and support systems.
· Bilingual skills are a plus.
In order to be considered for this position, you must pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check and your driving record must not indicate any of the following during the past 3 years:
· Punitive suspension, denial, or revocation of driver's license
· Conviction for impaired or intoxicated driving (DWAI, DUI, DWI)
· Conviction of reckless driving, driving with a suspended/denied/revoked license, hit and run or leaving the scene
· Conviction of 3 or more moving violations, at fault accidents or a combination
Standard Schedule:
· This is a temporary assignment expected to last 6-12 months.
· Monday - Friday (8 hours per day)
· Work on the weekend is expected. (On-call)
This position with Tetra Tech is temporary and on an "as needed" basis and will end. It is understood that your employment is to be on an "at will" basis.
